What Can Black American Do To Help Nigeria/nigerians?
« on: February 15, 2008, 07:07 PM »

What can Black Americans do to help Nigeria, Nigerians both at home and in the Diasporia?

Lets face it.  As a people we do not get along. (for whatever reason, REAL AND UNREAL).  However, we DO share a common bond - Black Skin.

Try to keep out the Black American v. Nigerian theme or even the Nigerian v. Nigerian theme.

More importantly, as people of color "WE ALL WE GOT"

Understand this, Black Americans are NOT selfish people.  Maybe misguided - via  Western Media - but selfish as a whole we are not.

That being said, what can Black Americans do to help Nigeria and Nigerians?

What says you?

gimme a break please. What black president are u fighting for? That Obama has gotten this far is thanks to the white votes he has recieved so far. If all whites voted for Clinton and all blacks voted for Obama (like you have shamelessly done) she would have wrapped up the nomination since February 5.

Open up to Africans without being condensending.  It's hard because most African Americans due to the years of racism and negative press do not want be associated with the inferiority label often attached to Africans. A lot of AA are smart and fun to be with, but their voice is often drowned by the majority ignorant. The situation is better illustrated by a remark made by Chris Rock to a white audience where he said that despite his status and wealth, an average white guy will most likely decline to switch position with him. But rather ride out the white thing. Those ignorant AA despise African immigrants, simply because they find ways to succeed in a racist environment rather than settle and complain.

AA must embrace Africans to restore meaning to their existence. The problem is that there not enough AA with the capacity to do so.

I agree.  Yet, don't get it twisted - It was Western Media (white people) that portrayed Africans as backwards, running through the jungle naked, disease infested, etc.

This made AA grateful they weren't in Africa.

Educated Africans - on the other hand - looked down on certain African Americans as being lazy, welfare receipients and crimminals.

So you see WE HAVE portrayal issues.

AA look at the bad in Africans and Africans look down at the poor black in America.

Keep in mind America have only 39M AA. and Africa have 750Million Africans.

Personally, I see African Americans getting along with Kenyans, South Africans, Ghanians and other Nations that are ACTIVELY seeking to invite us to the boosum of their country.

Countries that don't - gets no love from African Americans.

@poster

With all you have noted here, you will soon realize that both sets of people are in the same sinking boat.  Neither can help the other.  We have to look for help from the outside.  Too much self hate and hate for others.

Common to the black race, irrespective of country of residence. Kiss

BTW, this western media only showed what they saw there.  They did not plant them there.  Coming from Nigeria myself, I have seen worse!

Where did you get the IDEA that Black American are in a sinking boat?

We have NEVER been in a sinking boat.

Even During slavery.

It sound like YOUR MIND have given up.

If your spirit is dying, reach out.

As anything "black", one affects the other.  Any thing white, one affects the other. That was ma point.  It is not a matter of you versus us. Black is black.  We are all one and the same. There is no difference in how the outside world sees a "black American" from an African.  My spirit is alive and well enough to realize what you have never even thought of.  You should be sayin' "who can help us and save us from ourselves", instead of trying to explain why one group is better than the other.  Being a "black American" has no special status accorded when juxtaposed with an "African".  There is no difference.

. . . . . .For your information, a blind man can never lead another blind man but into a pit. Yeah, even if ma spirit were dying, I definitely will know where to look for resuscitative measures.  Definitely not in the direction you are pointing to those who care to be reading what you are writing---a whole loadda bull.  Wake up hon'. . . . . a think you are drooling! Kiss

To answer your question--you can do much service to yourself and others, by realizing first and foremost that you are black and no different in anyway, shape or form than any other black on this planet.  EVEN IF YOU LIVE IN AMERICA!

We all need help individually and collectively--you can google that for the most basic education.  You will find it beneficial to say the least.Kiss

Gosh! His picture profile says a lot.  Too much steroids in the brain a guess!

See who wan help pesin biko kwa nu!
