Which culture? when was paper money invented? very soon, you'll adopt 419 and drug dealing into our culture too. Don't push me please, if an ibo man took your girlfriend/wife, go settle it with him without dragging the yoruba's to mud because of your closed reasoning. Spraying money is not a yoruba culture by a long short. I am not sure of the origin but it must have been one of these learned attitudes we imbibe from God knows where.

@ "Jezebel," "Hot Pant," Hot Funmi,
Omo ale ni o. You're a bastard! You've proven time and time again that you're anti-men, anti-Yoruba, and a prostitute!. You even said in one of your posts that you would love to marry an Ibo guy.

You warned me not to push you? If you knew me you would not have said so. Just go and ask about me -- I'll make you cry, girl. Believe me, I have made thousands cry on Nairaland before you joined.

now you're talking!
But honestly, every Nigerian knows Yorubas are the undisputed party animals in Naija.
However spraying has always been part of Igbo culture  and Nigerian culture in general.
Our cultural dancers have been spayed from time immemorial to show appreciation.

and so what even it were learned from Yorubas according to ajiasafe
is that something to boast of by anyone

Soludo should ask his brothers to stop sending 419 letters!
I think that would have a positive impact on Naira and Nigerian economic.

I rest my case!

His brothers like Babangida,Alameseigha and Obasanjo

Soludo should work toward introducing better quality (durable) Naira note.

Furthermore, I understand where KSA is coming from; how would a waiter feel if Alan Green-Span bans giving tips at all restaurant in United States?
Absolutely terrible!

Soludo should use his brain to be more creative, work toward elevating our retarded economy and stop this senseless simple-minded strategy.

Regarding a ban for spraying.
Personally I think it's a waste of time enforcing such nonsense.
There are better things to focus on than arresting women in tight jeans and couples being sprayed on at a wedding.

They should be more concerned about the airpolution from the millions of generators and seek ways of providing electricity
They should also be more concerned about the thousands dying from drinking "pure" water.

It's so like Nigeria to major on minor issues.

It's a pity, my intention of starting the thread was not to be vulgar or tribalistic.

You guys made me to forget to reply the last two comments from Kobo. The discussion then, was mature until you guys brought in the tribe thing.

No need,  I doubt the USA will stand for such silly laws. You do know that the USA has more bills subjected to trampling each night than Nigeria does and you do not see Bernanke coming out to make claims such as the one Soludo made about spraying?Huh Go around the Usa each night and you might be suprised that spraying is not local to Nigeria. It happens every single night in strip clubs around the country, in parties from California to NY by Nigerians and people of every nation and No, the dollar is actually quit durable. Try rough handle a dollar bill and you will find out how durable that thing is compared to the naira.

That of generators, electricty, housing etc cannot be effected by Soludo directly. He has little or no power to turn things around in those areas.

@NUZO:
This has nothing to do with being tribalistic; it is simply silly to start a topic without understanding the content.

There are enormous strategies out there that could be used to restore the value of Naira. Mr. Soludo has introduced the beginning of his own down-fall.

The definition of this latest rule by Soludo is simply "laziness"
And Nigerians in general will be foolish to buy it.

KSA should think well before talking. How do you rationalize the trampling of currency notes in the name of spraying?
I read the article, and he said that notes are pasted on musicians' faces. Pasting fresh Naira notes on a musician's sweaty face is the same thing as trampling it. I support soludo.

Mr. Soludo should return back to work immediately, or else he will start begging again to keep the position.

There are many completely competent Nigerians out there ready to pick up this position.
Write it down, Soludo's days holding this position are numbered.

He is nothing, but a waste of time; Nigeria deserves better!

Let us not limit this law to only spraying alone, it includes other people who in one way or the other bastardize naira notes. I'm sure the restaurants, cab drivers, street boys don't mess with the dollar bill like we do. Besides, why would they, when most of the transactions are done electronically.

That the dollar bill is stronger than the naira not in terms of durability doesn't make enough reason to "rough handle" the naira. And that has never stopped me from advocating for stronger and durable naira.

Unfortunately i have been to strip clubs both in and outside US. The bastardization of money in USA  cannot be compared to the one in Naija. So theirs might not raise much alarm as it is minimal. In Naija, it's simply ridiculous.

As it is confirmed that KSA is made (he has been there and done it all), therefore, there is a possibility that he has made this statement to only look out for the future of the new generation JUJU musicians, who need spraying of Naira to survive.

This goes a long way to show us that many challanging the law were being selfish.

These musicians don't need spraying of Naira to survive. All they need is surpport from you, i and the necessary government agencies to drastically minimize piracy. They could be as rich as feety or Aretha without people rough handling naira notes in the name of spraying.

You forgot to add stealing public funds, curroption, lateness, shouting in the public, unnecessary heated and agrressive arguements, littering the streets etc as part of our culture.

I was seeing a Nigerian movie recently and my friend noticed that people were being unnecessarilly agressive in the movie. He asked me whether it's the way we shout in Nigeria? Before i could answer, my other Nigerian visitor aswered yes and went ahead to tell him that it's actually part of our culture. My friend was dazed. I could only imagine her thoughts. Barbarism! In the strip clubs, the dollar bill is attached gently to the bikinis, thong etc by patronizers, while in a Nigerian parties, alot and more of what Oldie showed us in page two happens.
Once again, spraying has not been confirmed as the only was naira is abused.
