By ajisafe, @ ALERT-EFCC, Craze dey worry you and your folks. Na KSA you dey disrespect like that? Me I no blame you o -- mention one important and internationally celebrated artist that ever came out of your barren Iboland. O o ni sanfaani laye (Amin).
Craze and 4-1-9 na your culture for Iboland. O pari o! Shariputra, all dharmas are marked with emptiness, they do not appear or disappear, are not tainted or pure, do not increase or decrease. Therefore in emptiness no form, no feelings, perceptions, impulses, consciousness. No eyes, no ears, no nose, no tongue, no body,no brain, no mind. No color, no sound, no smell, no taste, no touch, no object of mind, no realm of eyes and so forth until no realm of mind consciousness. You are a dharma.

I have read some people who say naira spraying is the least of our problems so it should not be addressed now since there are bigger issues that need urgent attention. Kindly consider this analogy:
A man is blind, deaf, dumb and paralysed from the waist downwards. One day, a medical team visits his village and are ready to give him vision. The sick responds that blindness is the least of his problem now they should not fix that but fix the others.
Would you say the guy is rational or stupid? Would the medical team be encouraged to search for solutions to his other problems or contact others who might have the solution?

seguno, a more appropriate analogy in this case would be, a man is blind, deaf, dumb and has a fly that keeps perching on his face for 2 seconds every three hours. A medical team with all the ability to cure his blindness and dumbness, etc, come and kill the fly. Then pack up all their medical equipment and return home.

in the end, all this is much ado about nothing. the most we can expect is that for two months, the men in black will harass the daylights out of anybody found abusing the naira. after that business as usual. lets hope our police will not decide to . .er . . .spend the exhibits imagine the evidence photographs -( normally police take pictures of alleged culpits with weapons as exhibits) picture a guy in boxer shorts holding a soiled naira note being paraded on crime fighters or lagos television off screen interviewer - 'why are you abusing the naira? is this the example you are setting for your children? aren't you ashamed of yourself?. . and so on arrestee - 'na devil push mei no go do am againi go buy wallet. . .' going by what constitutes 'abusing the naira' we are all guilty. is there anyone herec who ALWAYS keeps money in his wallet? once you don't do this, you can be arretsed for 'abusing the naira' as to spraying, maybe the governemnt should release 'spray edition' naira notes; which incidentally will cost a little more. ie provide 18000, for 20000 spray edition notes. the extra money cn be used for production of more notes, and will also serve as the ultimate 'big boy statement' . just musing. . . before the tribalists fall on me

I can't go through the whole of this thread now because my time here is limited - I've read just the first 3 pages, and I totally agree with texazzpete, the dude is completely right. If you want to spray money, do so decently (in trays or baskets or anything that will ensure it's not stained or dilapidated), not by stamping the notes on sweaty fore-heads, with some "ushers" or whatever picking it up and sqeezing the note at the same time (due to the volume of notes on the ground), while at the same time, some others are busy trampling on the notes with their dancing shoes. It's simply IMPROPER!!! Besides, it's "GENERAL ABUSE" of the naira (in whatever form - writing on the note, tearing, squeezing, yes, it also applies to the market women, conductors, etc that mishandle it) that has been banned, not just spraying alone. KSA only chose to lament on the spraying part since that's where he realizes most of his cash. There has been a very huge awareness in the last couple of weeks in Nigeria about this new law, and no one will play ignorant when arrested. I'm in total support of the law. The only problem I have with this though, is how the law will be enforced EFFECTIVELY. Already, the police have been empowered to arrest those found guilty, and you and I know what that means in this present-day Nigeria. Talking of polymer notes, even those ones are worse. Spraying polymer notes at parties is worse that spraying paper notes. The polymer notes are NOT durable (case study - our dear N20 note). Once it's squeezed or trampled upon, it can hardly be straightened again, and the once fine note is left completely disfigured. One more thing, what's all these talk about "It's not done in other countries"? What exactly do the proponents of this statement mean? So because others don't do it means it's wrong for us to do so? Oh. . . or is it until some European country enforces the same law that it will only become proper for black nations to do the same thing? Someone should explain things to me please.

Yeah!
That's a more suitable analogy right there!!
Not that i encourage abuse of the naira in any way though!!!
But Government could invest their time in more tangible things and projects that'll better the economy SIGNIFICANTLY!
Like the power situation for instance!!
This is called PRIORITIZATION!!!
Any Government that knows its onions should be prioritized!
Tackle the big issues and the smaller ones will follow suit naturally!!

I think its ridiculous, they are just banning everything in that god forsaken country except CORRUPTION. The bastards don't have anything better to do!!! Spraying is just like giving money, it is in fact our way of life and part of our very intriguing culture, sunny ade should continue fighting, are they going to band giving money?

Spraying of Naira has never and would never be part of our culture. There has never been anytime in the history of this country that spraying of Naira is a nucleus in our society. I think instead of KSA preaching against this dreadful act he has the guts to confront a public officer. Tell him that what is his will definitely be his.

On a more serious note, this is really a dicey situation in that we've been born and bred in this so-called culture which to my own opinion is not entirely wholesome.
I think it contributed in no small measure to the get rich quick syndrome that has become another 'culture' amongst us. people want to 'hammer' from any unimaginable source, only to organize a function where they can display and be counted among the 'arrived'
Then at the end of the display, another set of people who wants to 'hammer' will in-turn visit in the night to cart away all the proceeds. Its really a vicious cycle. If it will take the CBN's hammer, and on the premise that the act defaces the 'beautiful' naira, to stop this madness, so be it.
Let people do worthy things with their money. And let the generations to come experience a better culture.

You don't need to turn your most happiest moment into naira collecting fund raising or launching. marriage is not made to recover what you spent on the bride rather to tell people you're man enough to head a family. besides I haven't seen any amount of money gotten from spraying people that can keep a family moving up to 1year if not the money the so called host made for himself. I personally hate spraying, it's complete economic sabotage to a nation.

i think i support that law,i mean spraying is not a bad thing and so many people depend on that money so much especially if they know that those that will be attending their parties are rich because in a way it hlps them recover a little they spent for the party and that raises another question that why should you organize a party when u knw u are not fully not up to it? The money that would be sprayed could as well be enveloped and given to whoever!Really, there is more to this spraying thing than anyone knows,

*Why not spray pounds sterlings or Euros? Do you spend dollars in London?*
Because 1 dollar comes in note, they can afford to spray that but 1 euro and 1 pound sterling comes in coin and they can't afford spraying €5 note and £5 pound which is the smallest denomination in notes.

People do spray those as well. All Currencies are sprayable. If the person can afford to spray benjamins, there is no law against doing so and again, money spraying happens all over the World. It is not only practised by Nigerians and so it is not just Nigerian money that is sprayed around the world everyday.
