Kanayo==male; for let us be pleading with God==My name!
Full= Kanayochukwu or Kanayolisa, same meaning!

@Chinani, Ejitu,  I should believe or think 99.9% means "what can we use to compare to this/ or to God?", ie kedu ihe a ga ejitu ru/ ejitunyere ihe a /mobu chukwu.
It can also be connoted to mean Ejitu mmamma= something used as a sacrifice or glorification to something, especially God, as many Ibo names most at times refer to God!

Or Ejitu Ugo, E ji ihe a tu m ugo!  Something used to glorify something! Maybe your great grandfather had been looking for a girl or he was overjoyed at the birth of your grandmother and exclaimed Ejitu ugo! I have been crowned by this! E=this thing ji has been used to tu crown 'm' [me] or 'anyi' [us] ugoglory!

Eg Ejituruchi mmamma!

Can somebody tell me about the meaning of the short form "ONYIS" ? I would love to know of which name it is the short form. Can somebody help?
I'm sure it is igbo,

."ONYIS'" should be ONYISI, which implies the superior or supervisor or the person in charge sort of (head of department)

, full is "onye" which means someone and "isi" which means head, ie ONYEISI OR ONYISI, dropping the letter "E" because two vowels rarely go together in

the Igbo langauage vocabulary

keep the interest up

ONYIS can also be ONYEKACHI= who is greater than God or ONYEBUCHI= who is God

Cheme: Correct spelling may be Chieme which means "God does not, " Actually the name may be a shortened form of a longer one

Re: Igbo Names & Their Meanings

methinks its "chiemelie" which means "God has won"
the short form can either be "chime" or "emelie"
