What's Your Fear (Phobia)?

My own phobia may sound a bit wack bt i hv a phobia for visiting guys in their house alone

actually  i know my own reasons

Creeping insects like, millipede, centipede, and some other weird looking insects.
Those r my phobics for now

my own phobia is
1. i can't stand roaches with wing
i can't stand heat (i don't know if that counts) they know me

Phobias are usually beyond the victims' control.
Usually people go to psychologist (or physiologists? idk) for help in overcoming it and what they do is make you think back to your childhood e.t.c because it's usually a horrible past childhood experience that leads to phobias.
not always though.

I used to have a phobia for snakes but not anymore because i've overcome that.
I think I got it from watching too many "evil spirit" nigerian home-videos at night when I was a little kid(that's also why I can't sleep at night w/o light or close my eyes for a long period of time. I just have to know what's going on around me)

taht's why i wouldn't advice any parent to expose their kids to violent movies thinking it's not going to make them turn violent. It might affect them psychologically because they're really sensitive. 


Usually people with phobias know that the object of their fear is harmless to them but they still have the irrational fear. I know sleeping w/o lights won't harm me. I just would freak out

especially when I wake up in the middle of the night in darkness

My phobias - biggest first smallest last :

being jobless - its like taking my manhood from me
losing wife or kid - my most valuble possesions
fires - ive seen fires kill and shatter lifes
a stroke - ill rather be dead
a big mean snarling dog about to attack me

i have a insect-phobia, all insects that crawl or fly, give me the creeps, especially cockroaches, its really serious, so serious i can't sleep in a room with a roach in it, i need to get rid of the phobia because its embarassed me one time, too many.

Am scared of depths! Always think i might fal into whatever

Oh God! fear of dirt?
That's a mental illness I would like to have and pray never to get rid of!! 
I'm allergic to dirt anyways.


@Laide, For treatment, the therapist might give the patient C.B.T (Cognitive Behavioral Therapy).
they'll first help identify your phobia (If it's dirt, they'll tell you all about dirt and why you shouldn't be scared of it and blah blah,   . .). then, they'll let you confront it physically.
