What version of Ubuntu are you running ? if you are running ubuntu 9.04 aka jaunty jackalope then vpn can be configured from the network manager applet  ,  but you will need to install two packages network-manager-openvpn and network-manager-vpnc both can be installed from synaptic . once installed go to the network manager icon. right click on it and choose edit connections ,  go to the VPN tab you can always take it from there

@bigrovar. have you tried this linux distro, XANDROS?

Well xandros was the brain child me corel corporation. It was supposed to revolutionize the way linux looked. But it missed it along the line. Then recently i think it had a crazy deal with linspire.
So in reality there's no big deal about it. It's just yet another linux distro

@lynxnoon
thanks brotherman i got those icons from gnome-look.org and the linux mint artwork portal i even have some have not taken the time to test but i still have them sha if u want.

Linux mint7 too is stable even more than mint6 and i comes stock with the latest jre which to me its good. Men you dont mean you actually upgraded to jaunty from intrepid Shocked i fear you o i would not even try it even with 100% chance that it will suceed cos one bitten twice shy,

Men if u havent used GnomeDO docky men you dey miss alot not wonder brovar told me its even better than the one found in mac which i totally agreed to now cos have used mac myself and all the hype surrounding it i never liked it though. People only think its polished cos the icons are big like the one i have in my docky thats my own opinoin sha

The guy with the usb modem
Have been very indisposed lately
Due to my experience with all these modems on linux, if it does not work out of the box in linux then its a serial usb modem.Now lets ddo it together

Step 1. Insert the card and open terminal type sudo dmesg and supply your password the it should provide lots of output but search for someething like this 0.0: ttyS0 at I/O 0x2e8 (irq = 3) is a 16C950/954. Take note of something like ttySO or Usb0 thats the mounting point of your modem

Step 2. edit /etc/wvdial.conf this way in the terminal sudo gedit /etc/wvdial.conf the it should provide you with a text editor with nothing or somethinng inside the copy and paste these to replace whats inside the text editor

Modem = /dev/ttyS0
Baud = 57600
SetVolume = 0
Dial-AT-OK ATDT Command =
Init1 = ATZ
FlowControl = Hardware (CRTSCTS)
Phone = #777
Username = put your usern
Password =
New PPPD = yes
Carrier Check = no
Stupid Mode = 1

Note thats the mount point that i told you to take not of is whats you'll put in front of your modem, out your usernameand password then save and exit then type sudo wvdial from the terminal it should connect, in case it gives you any error just copy and put the error mesg so that we'll look into it. Am not so good at writing guides so bear with me
