@ C wolf
hello guyz i just picked up my ubunt 9.04 and kubuntu 9.04 from the post office sent by canonical. i just installed it but
i could not get online with mtn dailup through bluetooth after automatic configuration
pls help. i dont know how to dail through bluetooth.
       pls help.  c.wolf still bootfast.

With kubuntu i can vouch that dialup will work but the reverse is the case with gnome with ubuntu is actually based on unless you install tools like blueman which is awesome.

Do you use a mobile phone? if yes try connecting through a cable which i know that network manager will handle fine.

I did a pre-release order i guess it should be here by now will check post office on friday Grin Cheesy Wink

Funny i dont experience this problem ,  but some vista users also have it http://forums.virtualbox.org/viewtopic.php?t=7796&highlight=vmx+root+mode
anyway here is a work around

The workaround is to disable KVM:

1. Install "bum" (Boot-up Manager): sudo apt-get install bum
2. Start Boot-up Manager (in systems menu) and untick "Full virtualization on i386 and amd64 hardware - kvm"
3. Click Apply

Answer yes to make the change effective right away.

flyuche, why are you using a virtual machine anyway? why not just create a partition for the os?

I got my ubuntu and kubuntu today and i just ran the live cd and i must confess KDE is too polished Shocked Shocked God its too much and i notice that the problem i had with (not problem really) with intrepid on Hp compaq laptop where you'll have to pass a command to the kernel before it could boot properly is still there. But no to worry any body that have this problem should check my past post on this thread. Will install it tommorrow i mean ubuntu cos am addicted to gnome. Cheerio

i don't want ubuntu and linuxmint on the same machine. i have vista and linuxmint on my machine.(dualbooting). i just need the virtualbox to try out new os or distros.

t least for ubuntu you could have used the wubi installer; then if you want to
get rid of it uninstall from windows; but is virtual box fast enough?
i can't stand the delay that occurs when am running an os in a virtual machine

flyuche already has ubuntu installed on his system, he just wants to use virtualbox to try out other linux distributions ,  i never recommend wubi for most people due to the fact that its just a way to test linux,  and not meant to be a final solution.

I think he would be better off with linux mint due to the fact that one, its more nooby friendly, and 2 its has a better out of the box experience compared to ubuntu because it ships non free codecs for playing mp3 and dvds by default ,  codecs ubuntu doesnt ship for legal and political reasons.

@4llerbe
which area n Ogba do you stay? i stay there too
unfortunately i don't have kde on my debian-based distros (i.e debian, ubuntu, mint)
however i do have kde on opensuse if you're interested

yeah you'l only see commercial brands n otigba which is strange since all you have
to do to get ubuntu is go to shipit.ubuntu.com, register for free and order your cd (for free too)
of course tthere may be some delay in the cd getting to you
but i've been ordering ubuntu at least once a year since 2005
