Are We Really Slaves!
« on: April 27, 2006, 02:16 PM »

Below is a very challenging article I feel members of nairaland should read. I guess we all need to read this to prove the writer wrong!

***************************
THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES
****************************

Please Note:
For those of you who heard it, this is the article Dee Lee was reading this morning on a New York radio station. For those of you who didn’t hear it, this is very deep. This is a heavy piece and a Caucasian wrote it.

THEY ARE STILL OUR SLAVES
We can continue to reap profits from the Blacks without the effort of physical slavery. Look at the current methods of containment that they use on themselves: IGNORANCE, GREED and SELFISHNESS.

Their IGNORANCE is the primary weapon of containment.
A great man once said, "The best way to hide something from Black people is put it in a book". We now live in the Information Age. They have gained the opportunity to read any book on any subject through the efforts of their fight for freedom, yet they refuse to read.
There are numerous books readily available at Borders, Barnes & Noble, and Amazon.com, not to mention their own Black Bookstores that provide solid blueprint to reach economic equality (which should have been their fight all along), but few read consistently if at all.

GREED is another powerful weapon of containment. Blacks, since the abolition of slavery, have had a large amount of money at their disposal.
Last year they spent $10Billion during Christmas, out of their $450Billion in total yearly income (2.22%). Any of us can use them as our target market, for any business venture we care to dream up, no matter how outlandish, they will buy into it.
Being primarily a consumer people, they function totally by GREED. They continually want more, with little thought for saving or investing.

They would rather buy some new sneakers than invest in starting a business. Some even neglect their children to have the latest Tommy or FUBU, and they still think that having a Mercedes and a big house gives them "Status" or that they have achieved the American Dream. They are fools!
The vast majority of their people are still in poverty because their greed holds them back from collectively making better communities. With the help of BET, and the rest of their black media that often broadcasts destructive images into their own homes, we will continue to see huge profits like those of Tommy and Nike. (Tommy Hilfiger has even jeered them, saying he doesn't want their money, and look at how the fools spend more with him than ever before!). They'll continue to show off to each other while we build solid communities with the profits from our businesses that we market to them.

SELFISHNESS, ingrained in their minds through slavery, is one of the major ways we can continue to contain them. One of their own, Dubios said that there was an innate division in their culture. A "Talented Tenth" he called it. He was correct in his deduction that there are segments of their culture that has achieved some "form" of success. However, that segment missed the fullness of his work. They didn't read that the "Talented Tenth" was then responsible to aid The Non-Talented Ninety- Percent in achieving a better life.

Instead, that segment has created another class, a Buppie class that looks down on their people or aids them in a condescending manner.

They will never achieve what we have. Their selfishness does not allow them to be able to work together on any project or endeavour of substance. When they do together, their selfishness lets their egos get in the way of their goal. Their so-called help organisations seem to only want to promote their names without making any real change in their community. They are content to sit in conferences and conventions in our hotels, and talk about what they will do, while they award plaques to the best speakers, not the best doer.

Is there no end to their selfishness? They steadfastly refuse to see that TOGETHER EACH ACHIEVES MORE (TEAM) They do not understand that they are no better than each other of what they own as a matter of fact, most of those Buppies are but one or two paychecks away from poverty. All of which is under the control of our pens in our offices and our rooms. Yes, we will continue to contain them as long as they refuse to read, continue to anything they want, and keep thinking they are "helping" their communities by paying dues to organisations which do little other than hold lavish conventions in our hotels.
By the way, don't worry about any of them reading this letter, remember, THEY DON'T READ!!!!

White supremacists are abnormal people with low self esteem.  We have them in every race.  i'm not saying racism isn't real, I'm saying that it's not intentional most of the time and should be forgiven and gently corrected.

sad but for real most of what he said is true for about 70% of african americans. but to generalize it shows he is racist so no need to care.african americans have a huge economic outpour to the nation infact most business knows that he knows it if african americans stop buying all this stuff for one christmas that little 2.22% could cause havok.

You'ved lived in Naija, an 99.9% black country,  all your life; how in the heck would you know that they and their views are an abnormal part of the white population? 26years from birth to now living in the US, traveling to Canada, Europe and South America tells me different, along with 400+ years of African-American history with whites.  Now what do you have to back you claims up, beyond what you may have read in some books.

Most whites in the west don't really like blacks all that much and just the same most blacks don't really like whites. And that's fact. Those hates cancel eachother out and in the process build a shallow stability known as mutual respect, enough so to allow us to all get by in a general state of peace. But when that stability is cracked,  all hell breaks loos and you get LA riots, ball game rumbles, lawsuits galor, and a whole lot more. It aint pretty. We've been going at it for decades.

By the way, that thing must be really old. Cause the last time AfAm's grossed in the $400Bill range was like 10 years ago.  Undecided It's now in the $800Bill range. We are of the top 2% most wealthiest people in the world. With over 40Mill people, we would rank as the worlds like 10th wealthiest country. Now, that aint too shabby for a people only 40 years or less out of an extreem case of institutionalized discrimination and an minuscule 145 years out of institutionalized slavery in which lasted for nearly 300 years.  Kiss

Dear Continental Africans et al,

Please do not be alarmed, this letter is another African American pep talk.

African Americans put these out every other week or so. We like to scare each other into striving higher and higher.

Yawn. The person actually slips into Ebonics.

LOL Smile

Hero,

We were the 8th richest back at 550 bil.

When our yearly income was only 550 bil. we could pay off the debt of 44 African countries in one year, without suffering for anything. (our of our disposable income)

Maybe I will write an African American pep talk letter next week.

Berating African Americans for their neglect of the Motherland.

food4tot,

Exactly. Why should any African American have pride? We should be too ashamed to raise our head when we look at Africa.

And the fact that white people are the only ones striving to help there.

We are dancing like Amos and Andy for them, while our own people don't have speakers to hear the music.

(I am starting my work on the next AA pep talk letter now.)

Damn, good looking on my economic slip. Western media construes our economical strength to a great degree. Most folks think the majority of us are dirt pore, ghetto dwelling, violent slouches,  when in fact the majority of the AA population is middle to upper class career workers, and the majority of those who aren't middle and upper class,  still work and live twice as good, and make 2 times as much as the average middle class citizen in most countries in world today; meaning that our poorest is still wealthier or comparable in wealth,  than most of the world's nations' middle class'.

Now, I totally agree with your assertion of that AA's not really spending their money wisely--- for the most part, but I'll have to disagree with your comment of us not contributing to the betterment of the African continent. No black population in the world, has contributed more to the betterment of the black race at large than the AA community.

From South America, to the Caribbean and on to Africa, it's been the drive and influence of the AA political structure in the US, that has driven the US government to give a damn about the Apartheid situation in South Africa, and make solid moves to help end it, give a damn about the starvation in which took place in Ethiopia back in the 80's, and 70's, or the genocide in Sudan, civil war in Liberia and Sierra Leone,  though not enough to get troops on the ground their, but hey!!

The US white elitist government was actually going to sit back and allow Haiti to crumble into a bloodbath of caos after having orchestrated its plot to eliminate Jean-Bertrand Aristide from office, until the AA political structure stepped up and rallied support to FORCE bush to send help, or do something about the situation. It's been the drive of the AA political structure in which has encouraged US immigration to majorly increase the number of African, Aro-Caribbean and Afro-South American immigrants and students in which they'll allow into the nation each year.

Without the push of the AA political structure, there'D be no where near as many black immigrants and students coming into the the nation as is currently taking place.  I can go on and on naming the many, many things AA's have done for the worlds black community, most of which has gone totally unnoticed,  in that the majority of it was done selflessly, humble,  with an intent to only do their part to help out fellow brothers and sisters around the world when they could.  Now folks around hear don't have to to believe any of this, and that's cool,  but it's all very well documented, just do a bit of googling to learn the facts.

Hero,

You make some excellent points and I know even more wonderful stories.

Yet where is the African American committee to get an accurate census of the Black people in Africa?

Where is the African Americans committee to get every African some type of Social Security number, so we do not have to work in practical darkness?

The documents are the first thing we need to get in place before we can even start to begin to get a handle on the problem.

People are running around writing constitutions for Africa. We need some people who do the hard stuff not just the pretty stuff.

Woman you are too complex for me,just when I was about to write you off as a deranged activist you suprise me with you posts on this thread.
You must have some sort of multiple personality or mood swings.
Sometimes I like you and sometimes I can't stand but I definitely can't ignore you.

wow, Dee Lee or whoever wrote the article is one mean mutha effer. but theres some truth to it though don't you think?
we have freedom now, and all kinds of resources to better ourselves, at our disposal, so it is now up to us to know how to use it. our daily struggles shouldnt discourage us either because if we sit on our asses and do nothing but complain about racim this racism that, we will achieve nothing. we still have aways to go, people! be proactive!!!!!!!!

This man is obviously out of his mind! At the end of slavery we had a large sum of money? What? What money? What money we have now and then is because we worked for it. Not just pass down dirty money generation after generation made off the backs of slaves.  Around here we call it old money! Where i live is an historic city and plantation houses are still standing and the family of old "massa" still live in them. When slaves were freed most had nothing and no where to go. This guy has gone mad. Who is this mud slinger?
