The Permian–Triassic extinction event (250 million years ago) was a major turning point in the history of life of earth, that it is sometimes puzzling how little is known about this event by the general public. In this event, more that 96% (this figure varies from 90% to 99 %) of all lifeforms on the earth became extinct. It was so devastating that its effects were truly global. The cause of the event is not well understood, although candidate processes range from asteroid impact, to volcanism to, gaseous release from the oceans etc, etc. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Permian-Triassic_extinction_eventOne of the survivors of this event was an animal called Lystrosaurus( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lystrosaurus). Take a look at your ancestor below: Is it not remarkable how life has been able to bounce back to the level of diversity that exists today? Thank goodness for EVOLUTION.References:1) "When Life Nearly Died, The Greatest Mass Extinction of all Time", Michael J. Benton.

@therationa
You have attempted to decimate the accounts of the witnesses of Christ written 2,000 years ago, with so much ferocity.
How come you unquestioningly accept this story (written by people less than 100 years old) about an event that they claim happened 250 million years ago???
I don't get it.

You might get it once you educate yourself in the methods of science.

Now, use the methods of science to SHOW ME (not just tell me) what happened 250 million years ago. These stories are neither here nor there. They are attempting to invoke faith - which science rejects.

Otherwise we would be going round and round in circle, as is your wont on this forum.

When you have learnt some science, we can have this discussion. Otherwise we would be going round and round in circle, as is your wont on this forum. @therationa Let me re-phrase -> 250 million years is no joke. 1) Show us compelling evidence of the truth of this story. 2) The creature in the picture - did someone see it and take the picture, or is it an artist's impression? 3) If there is no compelling evidence for the story - then do you want us to take it on blind faith ?. 4) But you have always rejected blind faith. You are the one silently making circular arguments.

I did ask you in one of my earlier post whether you believe dinosaurs have ever existed and if they did, why are they not walking the streets now, and how long ago they were on earth. But you evaded that question. please, can you try it now?

Imhotep,
I shall tackle you questions in a subsequent post, but before that can you answers these for me please.
1) Do you know the difference between a theory and a hypothesis, in the scientific sense of the words
2) Have you ever heard of the end-permian extinction?
3) How long ago did dinosaurs become extinct?
Hopefully, that would set the scene about what to discuss.
