I think that a good idea since people can`t abstain from having sex,I surgest the truth should be told to the people of GOD because the number of people dieing of HIV each day is not to be written of. Condom should be preached by pastors to it fellower because by the time u tell them about abtaining from sex some people then go hide doing it which creats more peoblem. Let Educate ourself about the effects on premarital sex and sex in general. @tonte for the sake of maintaining people alive in church i storngly recomend that condoms should be distributed but we should not forget that they should also hammer hard on abstinence If you are old enough to be having sex, you have to be old enough to use your own hands to buy your own condoms. |

The church is there for you to receive salvation and not to encourage u to sin against God. if you are a Christian please consider reading 1st Corinthians 6 : 13-20. This will show you why church cannot be involved in such acts. i believe the school and the media should preach condom and not the church. yes we know the the best method (abstinence) to prevent HIV/AIDS is not really working, but the church should never preach condom. hi all, someone already said it looks like there is no depth in this topic,  its always amazing that posts like this draw a lot of fire, but i will say one more thing again, God's ways will never be our ways,His thoughts never ours, don't forget He kicked Adam and Eve out of the garden,(they wouldn't follow the rules) and He watched the whole world, save eight drown in the flood, (they were virtually all sleeping with each other!!) If as a christian working with UNFPA you can distribute Condoms, whats wrong with giving it to your 'brothers in church' Besides anything you do, in church or out is definitely in God's face!!)
One of the major pointers to living right is ABSTINENCE. The church should teach and preach the word of GOD and not what we humans in our bestial nature believe is convenient for us. I could distribute condoms outside the church but not in church. Why did Jesus not go to the market place to throw down the tables of the money changers and traders when he entered Jerusalem. Let us not rationalise our sins. The church is sacred and let us keep it that way. You might as well say because i work in a bar, i could as well come to church to sell liquor. (GOD have mercy)

That is the problem these days. People trying to dilute their beliefs so they can be seen as 'modern' or 'catching up with the times.' Abeg, abstinence is what churches have been preaching and is what they should. Why should they do a turn-about just because schools and hospitals are now distributing condoms?
Anyone who says "well, abstinence is unrealistic. Therefore, churhces should handout condoms as the best possible soultion" is disrespecting the values of religion. Abstinence is what churches preach, if you can't abide, then don't expect the church to give you an alternative. Go to school/clinics etc for that. It's like a criminal code stating "don't steal. But if you must, do it at night" because afterall, we can always tell people not to steal but some will; so why not help them do it efficiently, right?
