Which is best, PROGRAMMING IN JAVA PLATFORM or .NET?

I've used both platforms extensively ,

The .NET platform is a superior  development platform but the java community is better than the .NET counterpart ,

So i think Java has a brighter future, the multiple language support in quietly being ushered into java ,

.NET community is just growing. Give Uncle Gates some more time and see if .NET will not displace java

i go for DOT NET framework/platform

Hello all you java programmers out there,i have just started reading about java and would be grateful if anybody could get me the java development kit jdk? tried downloading it from the sun website but it takes forever!can somebody in Abuja give to  me or send it to my email jimblaze77@gmail.com and maybe a beginners book on Java too would be great, Thanx and GOD bless you 'all

I have used Java for some odd years now and i love it. But i really like the .Net platform as well from my little experients. GUI development is so straightfoward
