Democrat,

Most of the car dealers I spoke have Toyota Camry 2000/2001 and not 1999 model. They are asking for N1.6m (about $12,500) for the 2000/2001 model.

I only have a budget of N1.2m (about $9,375) for a car and will like to keep my options open.

Do you think a Nissan Altima 1998/1999 is a good and durable product?
How does it fare in terms of maintenance and fuel consumption?
Does it normally come with a V6 or with a Standard 4 cylinder?

In the event that I am unable to get a Toyota Camry 1999 for N1.2m, Is Nissan Altima (asking price of N1.1m) a better option considering my above requirements? Alternatively, what is your take on other options available for me?

I need your advise on this bro.

Timdawg

2000 MPV should cost no more than N1.25 Million make sure you run the VIN  before you buy.

Ajibade

I suggest you look at the 2000 Nissan Altima, or the 2001 Mazda 626. Do the 4Cylinder on both vehicles and spend about N1.1 Million and Mileage not more than 125K Miles.

Lewa
Call me whatever you want.

Superman
I have mad respect for any Volvo, i think you should do a 2000 S70 4dr Sedan if you can afford it. That was the last year of production. It should cost you about $13,500 total

Guys i am sorry i am not getting to your questions as fast as i should, i am just so busy. But keep those questions coming, i Love to help.

You can do a 2000/2001 Nissan Sentra or a 2000/2001 Toyota Corolla for the price you have!!

Foruma

The Chevy Optra LS would be a good Idea.

Democrat,

Can you please provide any price info (what you'll consider a fair buying price) on these vehicles:
'01 Pathfinder (seller claims it has less than 100k miles) OR
'99 Pathfinder (leather)
'03 Camry w/ leather interior

Any info will be appreciated.

Timdawg

01 Pathfinder: N2 Million or Less
99 Pathfinder: N 1.45 or Less
03 Camry : N 2.3 Million or Less

If i had the VIN number i could price it better for you. Beware of Lemons in the Nigerian Auto Markets.

Dcafe

I am sorry to say but your 1997 Avalon has a Salvage Title. It was in a Major accident with major Frame damage. We call it a lemon in the auto industry, and many of these vehicles end up in Nigeria for some reason. You cannot drive with a salvage title in America. You have to make it road worthy and inspected. If you have not bought it yet, please pass on it.

@ Democrat,  ok with the provided informations,   but do u know that most cars sent to Ng are salvage title.  It's due to cheaper cost compared to clear title price.  We have most dealers competing for cars at salvage auctions most of d time.

Some are broken glass or loss title that the insurance co doesn't want to deal with.   Most cars are very driveable & are declared salvage in d first place due to some minor/major issue.  Have people buying, fixing and selling it o'er time here; as a matter of fact bought a 2000 camry with salvage title for 6k, fix it and resold it to a white man and he's still using it since last year.  Not all salvage are bad, if he'D engine problem run from it.

Nice 2 join u guys once again this year. [da new] Democrat, your inputs are quite helpful, as usual. But could u please explain what u mean by "running the VIN." Also, how can i determine the year of make/model of any car without having to inspect the seatbelt of other thing? There're two Camrys - CE & LE - that look very much alike except their tail lights- one is small, thin line, the other big and tapers at the inner ends. What models are these?

Promise72, thx for your analytical response. Very helpful. Are u based in The States, and do you 'bring in' autos as well?

VIN checks by Carfax.com or Vehix.com only works on vehicles in the US and Candian Markets. If the vehicle was sold or made in the USA or Canada.

Seyi

VIN number is the Vehicle Identification Number,  it tells you the past History or story of the vehicle. It is a mixture of numbers and letters. I think you call it the Chassis Number in Nigeria!

Dewdrop

You should budget $15,000 to buy, ship, clear a 2006 Toyota Corrolla S. I am not sure what today's convertion rate is, but i used N130-$

Wondering if anyone can help. I was recently advised that one is able to ship any year van or minivan to nigeria, as supposed to the regular 8 year restriction.
If this is true, can anyone advise what the market is like for minivans in nigeria. I recently acquired 2 1996 plymouths and i am thinking of sending them to lagos to sell.

Thanks
