Hey Democrat, After 3 posts you've made up your mind that I'm "an Arrogant SOB", I guess you love answering the same question from different people. You might know the black book value, but most will not be able to get into a dealer's auction, so its safe to work with the fair market value. I never implied that you gave numbers from Ebay but that people should use those numbers for budget purpose. I don't have a year's subscription to Carfax, but its not enough for people to make car decision on a web post.
Promise72, Be original in your comments if you have a problem with my post point it out, don't make yourself ridiculous.

Don't mind that sultaan guy? That is how they start their confusion. Please will a 1989 nissan maxima have a VIN number?

Otoks Absolutely, if it is an American Spec Maxima, it will have a 17 Letter and number mixed.

Go back and read my posts, my prices are fair market prices. The black book is sold everywhere, people use that as a tool to pay dealers fair retail prices. Many exporters buy from Auctions, and when the vehicles get to Nigeria the want to charge retail prices plus profit. Let the people make up their mind. If everything thing i told people in this thread was free and common sense, people should go and get their information from those sites you listed.
You can also help people with answers, instead of belittling my efforts.

@ Sultan,
This supposed to be a forum but i must go the other way here. Yuo are clinicllay retarded. Why are u bashing the guy for nothing? Even if all he does is give info that is readily available. So what? Its not readily available to everyone you know. I'm not DEMOCRAT's #1 fan to say the least (See page six for my comment to him) however, the man is doing a steller job with his info.
We were supposed to come together in a forum and learn from each other not tear each other down. So please check yourself before you wreck
One love.

I'm surprised at how blasphemous my post was. I offended the god of this thread by telling his followers not to seek all that god can do, but what they can do on their own.
To the Followers, You are getting the right answer to all your questions, detailed and very accurate. But by searching online for answers yourself, you will learn a lot more about the cars you have interest in.

A friend has a 2000 Toyota Camry LE available in Lagos (V6). Just cleared ports and is going for only N1.5m (may be negotiable). Serious buyers only. You can go to the yard and look at it. AC works perfectly, no body or engine work needed. Actual picture is shown below. The VIN is available so you can run the vehicle history. It's never been in an accident and it's not a salvage vehicle. Serious buyers can send an email to tee_cafra@yahoo.com

Hello Good People -
New to the forum and I have a question:
I have a 2007 Hummer H3, 6900 miles (no accidents + clear title + 1 owner) and looking to ship to Nigeria for sale.
How much would I reasonably expect and what could would the average 'sale turnover' time be for such a car.
Thanks.

@ Sir Q,
I don't sell car in Nigeria. But 1 thing i will like to let you know is that you have to market that type of car to the right people. Hence u need the right guy in Nigeria to do that. Or the type of dealership that "big boys" visit. You don't take that type of car down to a small village and expect the right buyer to come along. (Not that there are no rich people in small village) but you need as much exposure as possible.
Very little exposure will increase you "turnover" time. And being that the car is in the "upper crust" of consumerism expect a longer turnover. its not like you are selling a toyota camry/accord/maxima.
Its a "specific car". i.e people leave their house to look for it. not just "i want to go buy a car" and came home in a hummer!. Just trying 2 be realistic. So if you will be selling it yourself be prepared to wait for about 6wks or get a good trustwothy person and be hopeful.
One thing about vehicles, its hard to say when the right buyer will show up. it might be right away or not.
Hope it helps.

Guys, Love the inputs. I did indicate the car isn't mine but this is the seller's response. I only put it up for him because I'm always on this site and giving him exposure for the vehicles he brought in. @promise72/Democrat You're right about the door handle. I didn't even see it. The seller says it was replaced before the car was shipped to Nigeria and the pic I put up came from the auction site he acquired the car from in the US. As per the V6 issues, Democrat is right about V6 having single exhaust. The car is a V6 and going for a fair price, I believe. Bottom line tho' is the car runs great, has no accident history, has 104k miles on it, and all the "missing" parts are there now while the car sits in Lagos. Interested buyers can send an email to tee_cafra@yahoo.com

Hello! auto fans, howz the cruising? Promise 'n' Democrat, how u doin? long time. . . This request is open to all but i specifically want these two guys' opinion: what are the real similarities and differences b/w the Montero Sport and Nativa SUV models? Xpectin . . .
|
|
|
|
|

promise72 (m)

@ Seyijay,
Well Montero Sport/Nativa is pretty much the same thing. Its the power of marketing in play here. This is what is called "Rebadged Engineering" Manufacturer sells the same type of vehicle under diff names i.e Toyota/Lexus or Nissan/Infiniti.
The Nativa is also sold as "CHALLENGER" ,"SHOGUN SPORT" ,"PAJERO SPORT" depending on the Market. How do Mits. decide on the name or which market to sell it to? i have no idea.
In the states its called Montero Sport. The difference in the ones sold around the world is the type of engine choices and "trims" available.
In the states , i believe you can only get it in 3.0L engine (May be a 3.5L is available im not sure). But in other countries you can get a diesel. Diesel cars don't sell too well in the US
Also, in the states, you can get "trims" (deluxe, fully padded etc) up to "LIMITED". You have ES, LX, XLS and LIMITED. Mostly same engine but the interior will be more nicer than other. The "Limited" i believe is leather interior. Which might not be a very good idea in Naija.
Leather also crack as they get old and become ugly. But engine and evrything else are the same. Of course choices of either 2WD/4WD on all trims except the ES model.
Hope i've answered your question. Let me know if you have any other.

Promise, thx a heap! You r a gem. your answer was most insightful. I see a lot of the trims like the ES and LIMITED versions in naija a lot, and it thrills me when i see them. I'm hoping to have any of the 'top-of-the-range' for myself - full options but not with leather [i don't really fancy that] - within the next 1 year. So, in your opinion, what figure should i be looking at to draw from my pocket for a piece of machine like this? And how about maitenance, spare parts availability, reliability . . .? Thx for yours

@ Seyijay, All i can say is that i think if u want everything but the leather, u should be looking towards d XLS model. The ES is the bottom of the pack, like i said. As per reliability, i think they are somewhat reliable. The minor hassle i kind of have wt mitsubishi in general is that their "fit and finish" tends to be sub-par. I mean that u can have situations like simple annoying buttons/controls breking and stuff. However, they seem to have one of the best (if not the best 4WD) system out there. The Mits Pajero has been winning the Dakar rally race for a LOOOOONNNNNNG time (the race is an unforgiven drive through God forsaken mountain, sand dunes etc). They have definately brought their knowledge to the development of the drivatrain of the car. Availability of the parts, i think they should be readily available out there. they are somewhat common cars. With all that said. Heres my verdict. For my $$$$. I will at least look at 4runner. if u don't mind. They are reliable and good parts availability. Very well put together too. I will go in this order wit my $$ 4 Runner, Pathfinder Montero I'm raring maily on long term maintenace and reliability basis. But at the end of the day it comes down to what "YOU" like. Mits has been making happy owners 4 years. But, will cost less to keep a 4runner/Path on the road than a Mits. Kapish? (means Agboye)(u understand?)

Very funny, man! You kind of give me a cause for some worry here. I respect your views but, why rate da Mit. at #3? kindly give more tech. details [objectively]. Again, i like good interior / dashboard illumination, but the toyota disappoints me a bit. The Nissan passes for me more in this regard, but i just have this soft spot for the Montero. I still like it, sha. Feel me in some more . . . which is more expensive: the pathfy or the montero [total overview, that is? Thx.

I used a Galant for 6 years and it was ok, I sold it at 177, 000 miles and it was running great. The new owner has no problem either. Get a Mitsibishi, under rated when compared to overpriced Toyota and Honda.

@ Sultaan, So u want to campare a Galant that MIGHT make it to 200,000 miles to a Toyota/Honda that is GUARANTEED to clock 300,000 (of course all things being equal: routine maintenance) How many people do u meet on the street swearing till the cow come home how wonderful their Mits has been? But u get that in Hondas/Toyota everyday of the week. There's a reason its "overpriced" yet people snatch them up like its the last one on earth. If $$$ is an object, then i can understand, but if not. Theres no substitute for the best. WORD. A quck test for u. i pressume u live in North America. How many 1985-1988 Mits u see when you drive. How many of the same year bracket u see of Toyota/Honda. Try it, when u're in a heavy traffic area or so. Do a small mental count. and theres your sign.

@ Promise. thanks man for all the infos. Please I want to know what would be the cost of a 2003 honda accord V6 gear box. Mine is bad, and don't know if I can get it cheap from honda place. Also got any idea of the price of 2003 nissan murano or 2004 Infiniti fx35/ 2003 Nissan Armada.

@ gilgee. Sorry to hear about your Honda. You failed to mention if the car is already in Nigeria or still in the states (i presume its a US car). Anyway Honda had some "minor problems" with some Accord (including some 2003 models) Read the article in the links below. http://world.honda.com/news/2004/c040630.htmlAnyway, if your car is still in the states, you might be able to effect your recall from the dealer but i don't know if you can do that once the car is already shipped out. Since the car is sold to US market, you might be assed out. How much the honda place is trying to charge in Nigeria? Any luck locating any used ones? Prices? Let me know how far you've gone in getting your problems solved. I live in California, hence shipping from down here can be $$$$ So get back to a brother. @ Realpoint You will need to talk directly to Democrat on the CRV. im not presently into shipping cars. i hope to start soon. Dealing with the "Nigeria factor" is a diff animal entirely. Democrat is the king on the issue. He's been doing it longer and better than i have or can at the moment. @ Superman Volvos are very good vehicles. However just let the person know beforehand that its not a honda or camry i.e parts are a bit more expensive. Its a big boys ride. So you like what u like but just know goin in what u are stepping up to. Mechanics are pretty abundant and parts shouldnt be too hard to find. I don't know of any bad news on those models as of now. However if i find any, i will post it within 2 days. If u don't see anything directed to u in 2 days about the volvo that means i didnt find anything. i will research for u though. Good luck
