Was This Man Lying?

There's this man, who had a son. One day he went up to his son and said "son, I've got a girl for you to marry", his son hums and replies "am sorry dad, but am goona marry a girl of my choice", to this his father replies, "what if the girl is Bill Gate's daughter", "in that case, I'll change my mind", replies the son. Then the man goes to the president of world bank and says to him, "mr. President, I have a young man, who'D love to be a vice-president in the bank", the president replies "I don't need another vice-president, I've got so many", then the man says, "what if the man in question is Bill Gate's so-in-law", "in that case, I'll change my mind'', replies the president. Finally the man goes to Bill Gates and says, "Bill, I've got a young man, who'D love to marry your daughter", Bill Gates replies "sorry, but my dughter's going to marry a man of her choice", then the man says " what happens if the man in question is a vice-president of the world bank", "in that case, I'll make my daughter his wife" replies Bill Gates. The man turns around, smiles and says " thats how buisness is done". Now my question is, was this man lying or plainly being intelligent.
