The presence of 4 English clubs in the quarters of the champions league doesn't necessarily mean the league is the strongest. Look at how poor the other English clubs fared in the UEFA cup. It only shows that any other English club other than the Big 4 would get trounced if they ever sneak into the champions league.
I'm watching Tottenham , Aston Villa and Newscastle( if they can get rid of keegan and bring in a world class coach).

Again,what has Roma's win over Real have to do with the strength of Roma or the overall strength of Serie A?Its a cup competition.Pompey just beat Utd,Barnsley beat Chelsea,Liverpool beat Inter while Arsenal beat Milan.How does it reflect the underlying strength of the winning teams? The vermin used to claim that the Champions League is the best template for judging who is the best. exactly why i opened the thread. who deoesnt know the La liga has an edge over the EPL? everyone knows. but Dayokanu has been using the UCL as the only stage where the best can be measured. can we now bend the rules for Dayokanu? he has always maintained the stance that the EPL teams always crumble when they play the european giants but that has not been the case for a few years now. or how can we explain the total bashing fo Inter and AC this season? Dayokanu, stop mentioning players who ply their trade in a grade b league, stop shouting players who compete in the UEFA cup (milk cup). the only place where the best play is the UCL. geddit. your Tony Kroos, klose and co are just like steve pieenar and co. at least they competed for the same trophy in europe |

Don't care much about the numerics. . . . . . . . But if 4 teams from a particular region can make it 2 the 1/4s, 3 2 the 1/2s & still manage 2 smhow lose the cup to the lone rep from another region. . . . . . Whats there 2 be excited about  I'd better assess the quality of the EPL teams in the WORLD CUP 4 CLUBS. . . . . . Let FIFA try work that out every 4yrs perharps & we'll see! |

I agree with Rube. Forget it. Premiership teams ARE getting better, but look at the hard facts. They've won the Champions League 3ce in the last 25 years. Compared to Spanish and Italian teams, thats not much.
Last year Milan tidied the best English teams. Three English teams to one in the semis and the suckers couldn't take the cup. I really can see the same thing happening this year.
The best teams in the world are Spanish and Italian. I think leagues are best judged, not by the top teams but by the middle teams: those that go to UEFA. Fiorentina or Villareal will murder Everton any given day.
Besides they're more competitive. The top four in the EPL hardly ever changes unlike in Spain or Italy.
