Also, i will like to know how much the medication examination cost? i am much obliged to your support , we shall get there!!!AMEN

gentlemen of the nairaland, i need serious help and i believe only you guys can advise me right.
i applied for my student permit to study in Canada on 19th April 2009. in support of my application among other documents was a letter from my office confirming that i have been given a study leave and i can come back to the job upon completing of my programme. however around March i commenced moves aimed at getting a new job, hoping in the event that i fail to get the visa i can change my job. unfortunately i am yet to get a feedback on my visa application but i have been offered employment in the new job. i am directed to resume on 26th May 2009 even though i can shift my resumption date for at most a week. the pay is almost thrice my current salary.
however i really want to go to Canada for my postgraduate study and i feel the chances of my getting a visa will be seriously affected if i leave my present job as the embassy people may subsequently try to confirm the authencity of my study leave letter and of cos my employer will tell them i am no longer in their employment.
this new job is also offers great financial improvement and if i refuse the job and i am subsequently denied a visa, i will feel seriously gutted. this is especially as i don't feel motivated and appreciated enough in my present job.
gentlemen, what do i do? accept the new job offer and jeopardise my visa application or deny the offer and hope my visa application will be successful.
please gentlemen i need help and fast too.

hi Nlanders Debosky, Delta and Toni o
I hope u remember my issue with the CDHC.
They sent a letter for an explanation of my sponsor's statement authenticity
I sent an updated statement with letters from my sponsor and a personal letter as requested.
The school resumes on June 8 and they are yet to respond, I am even yet to do the medicals.
when i went to the CDHC to inquire on the status, they said they will get back to me soon and I can send them an e-mail.
I sent an e-mail, but CDHC is always some slow ass, they are still yet to reply and there is limited time b4 skool resumption.
I met an applicant at the CDHC who said it may be difficult getting a study permit without showing commitment by paying the tuition fee
what more do y'all think i can do on my own end as of now.
Do i keep going back to disturb them about the status of my application until skool resumption?
Or just chill and see what happens next before taking a further step?

Bros, my advice to you is to take the new job. What if you do not get the visa? Life continues. I believe one's life should go on even while waiting to receive almighty visa. This is a chance to make more pay, don't waste it waiting for some people to make up their minds. As per your concerns, can your change of job not be explained in a letter to them?

thanks for your prompt reply. i really appreciate it. replying to your your question, doing a letter and informing the embassy of of the new job defeats the whole essence of writing the letter in the first place which is to show you have a job waiting at home. but i am considering your advice and i thank you greatly for it.

well,i do understand your feelings, you are right that CDHC are very slow in treating documents but it will be better if you did not disturb them cos someone advise me not to disturb CDHC , My submitted my study permit documents to CDHC on feb 5 for MAY admission,my school has resumed since last week MAY 11 and they have not yet make a decision on my application,i went there to check the status of my application and explained to them that my school has resumed but i was told to differ my admission,i need to differ my admission to september again,i got my new acceptance letter on Monday and i went there on Tuesday to submit the acceptance letter, when i get there i was told by the security man that i cannot submit it until i was given an order from CDHC,so i need to email them and explain them what has happened, they now reply me to come by next week monday to come and submit it, Now am going to CDHC on monday to submit my new acceptance letter for september admission and they have not call me for anything, maybe for medicals or interview, People of nairaland we need alot of fasting and prayer for our documents with CDHC cos they are too slow in treating documents, my documents has used over 4 month now, Imagine !!!

I have been following this forum even after I was denied a visa to study in Canada. Please take your Job. if the visa works out you are better for it. if it doesnt you are still better off for it. Okay?
And please again broaden your search for suitable universities. Norway is beautiful and they have wonderful after work oppourtunities. I suffered for almost 67 days before the denial note from the canadian embassy came. I do not think I can let anyone do that to me again. I have since relocated to Edinburgh where am enjoying my studies
Good luck with your application. I eventually got my canadian visiting visa from the London office some weeks back. I am gunning for my Ph.D now and guess what am not even considering Canada. Such is life.
Please biko take your new Job inula?

Kennis since you have submitted your letter and sent a mail, you can always send another mail, and if it will not be a burden to you, at least try visiting the embassy once a week(they wont kill you) and keep filling the forms enquiring about your status, as i mentioned earlier you might hear familiar responses such as 'we are still working on it' but its still better than to sit back and do nothing, also you dont have to pay your tuition! paying is entirely at your own risk and doesnt guarantee a visa, dnt let anyone decieve you! the CDHC are never in a hurry, just be patient take things easy, they will surely respond at some point, have you tried to defer your admission? cos even if you get a reply next week, june is just a week away, there will be no time to complete medicals book a ticket etc, so i advice you not to live your live waiting on the embassy alone keep going about your daily business normally and everything will surely fall in place, all the best

rodolpho First of all, kneel down and thank God for your new job, and then ask for forgiveness for even contemplating refusing a good job, in this recession! Nobody should ever forgo any opportunities with the hope of getting a visa, which is not 100% assured and neither a ticket to heaven! Though it is a good thing you want to further your education in Canada, the standard of education is high and there are many good universities. Ok as per your leave I feel your point but the fact is that you do not expect to resume a new job and ask for a letter of leave on your 1st day of work do you? But at the same time trust me, the CHDC will call your office, they called mine and i was lucky the HR lady was a nice woman cos as of the time they called i had not yet informed my office of my intentions. my advice is this, if you have good relations with your former work place- which i had, you can always confide in your HR, MD or whoever and in the event the CHDC calls, they'll cover for you (hint: they will use the number on the letter you gave them) on the other hand, it is perfectly in order to change jobs so long as you have proof (and its not as if they sacked you) then if they call you to verify, you can explain to them, and inform them that you are in the process of obtaining a leave or absence from your new work. In some cases, they may not even call afterall! So, NEVER try to be proactive and give embassy info they don’t ask you, from experience, it usually rebounds to your disadvantage. Wish u d best and don’t forget to update this thread with any new development!

Please house, i'ld like to know the requirement for travelling to USA from canada on a single entry canadian study visa.
You can do so easily. The US (and a few Islands in the Caribbean) is the one place you can travel to and re-enter Canada from without having an entry visa. Simply apply to the closest US Consulate in Canada for a visitor visa to the US, with proof of your enrollment in University in Canada. You will likely be issued a 2 year multiple entry visa. If your aim is to leave Canada to go and 'hustle' in the US, don't do it - you will be on the watch list from about 4 months after you enter the country (stamped on your passport when you enter). Don't do that as you will make it difficult for other Nigerian students in Canada to secure visas.

No worries then - just apply to the closest consular office for the US, the process is very smooth. PS - If you need to renew your entry visa you can easily do it by mail via the Buffalo office.

Of course! if you can get a letter of future employment, that will be better but mind you i hope the company is registered, and preferably has a board of directors cos you have to convince them it is not a phony one-man-show and the letter is on company headed paper. you may wish to throw more light here on the type of company he is into - maybe people with similar background and issues here might have useful info

You don't need a valid Canadian entry visa to re-enter Canada from the US and a number of Islands as long as your study/work permit for Canada remains valid. You still need a US visitor visa to get into the US. I hope it is clear now.

Global Paul, The essence of Landed property is to show how credible your sponsor is. So if you intend to submit any C of O, it should be that of your Uncle that is your sponsor. If your Dad wants to sponsor you too, then you can include your Dad's C of O, otherwise ther is no need for that. Concerning your coming back to work for your Uncle, I think the key point is packaging, Let your Uncle write a letter of Confirmation of Employment on a letter head describing your previous work with him, how you have been an assest and indicating that your will come back to work for him. Pls, Add prayers to this. By the way, I hope you know that you dont have much time that is if you are applying for september entry, having in mind the 3months required to submit your visa application to CDHC. So get going fast. I sincerely wish you the best. Cheers.

@Nairalanders.
For the sake of those that are concerned about the "slowness" of CDHC. I want to share my own story.
I initially applied for Study permit last year May 3rd or thereabout, my application stayed with the embassy people from that time till july 4th when they sent a refusal note with my returned documents. Definately, I could not reapply again last year based on the three months rule. I had to defer.
This year february 9th, I reapplied and believe me you, I was invited to go for medicals without interview exactly two weeks after I submitted my application. This reminded me, last year when I applied initially, one of my friends in Canada told me that the embassy people got back to him too within two weeks during his time. I crosschecked this two week rule with Chi-jewel and she was also invited for her test approximately two weeks this february.
If you have read my previous posts, you know that I experienced the so called "slowness" of CDHC after my medicals when they didnt get back to me on time. I emailed them the fourth week after my medical exams in Lagos. The CHDC people replied informing me that I should get in touch with my courier company that week. I got my visa that week with validity from March to end of september.
All I am saying is that the CDHC people gives out visa on a daily basis, those that went for their medical exams in VI will attest to this. I asked the Nurses in the VI clinic and I was informed that hardly does a day pass without atleast 20 people coming for Medical exams.
So as a general rule, CDHC will either invite you for your medicals within two weeks of initial submission of your documents. Anything short of that, believe me, pls start serious prayers. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that if you are not called for medicals or medicals with interview, you cant get the visa, atleast, Aydewale got his visa last year after his application stayed with them for 3months. All I am saying is that if you fall into this second category, then you have to tighten your "seat belt" by prayers or anything you know how to do best.
I hope this shed some light on this purported 'almighty' CDHC.
