@Nairalanders.
For the sake of those that are concerned about the "slowness" of CDHC. I want to share my own story.
I initially applied for Study permit last year May 3rd or thereabout, my application stayed with the embassy people from that time till july 4th when they sent a refusal note with my returned documents. Definately, I could not reapply again last year based on the three months rule. I had to defer.
This year february 9th, I reapplied and believe me you, I was invited to go for medicals without interview exactly two weeks after I submitted my application. This reminded me, last year when I applied initially, one of my friends in Canada told me that the embassy people got back to him too within two weeks during his time. I crosschecked this two week rule with Chi-jewel and she was also invited for her test approximately two weeks this february.
If you have read my previous posts, you know that I experienced the so called "slowness" of CDHC after my medicals when they didnt get back to me on time. I emailed them the fourth week after my medical exams in Lagos. The CHDC people replied informing me that I should get in touch with my courier company that week. I got my visa that week with validity from March to end of september.
All I am saying is that the CDHC people gives out visa on a daily basis, those that went for their medical exams in VI will attest to this. I asked the Nurses in the VI clinic and I was informed that hardly does a day pass without atleast 20 people coming for Medical exams.
So as a general rule, CDHC will either invite you for your medicals within two weeks of initial submission of your documents. Anything short of that, believe me, pls start serious prayers. Dont get me wrong, I am not saying that if you are not called for medicals or medicals with interview, you cant get the visa, atleast, Aydewale got his visa last year after his application stayed with them for 3months. All I am saying is that if you fall into this second category, then you have to tighten your "seat belt" by prayers or anything you know how to do best.
I hope this shed some light on this purported 'almighty' CDHC.
THANK YOU OH BROTHER AYDRACULA, U ARE VERY CORRECT, WHEN I ALSO APPLIED FOR VISITING, I WAS REPLIED EXACTLY 2 WEEKS WITH A BOUNCING LETTER. SO I BELIEVE WETIN YOU TALK. WELL, A REPLY WILL BE GIVING TO EVERYONE OF US APPLYING FOR THIS STUDENT VISA, IN 2 WEEKS, IN JESUS NAME, AMEEEEEEEEEEENNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

Global Paul, The essence of Landed property is to show how credible your sponsor is. So if you intend to submit any C of O, it should be that of your Uncle that is your sponsor. If your Dad wants to sponsor you too, then you can include your Dad's C of O, otherwise ther is no need for that.
Concerning your coming back to work for your Uncle, I think the key point is packaging, Let your Uncle write a letter of Confirmation of Employment on a letter head describing your previous work with him, how you have been an assest and indicating that your will come back to work for him. Pls, Add prayers to this.
By the way, I hope you know that you dont have much time that is if you are applying for september entry, having in mind the 3months required to submit your visa application to CDHC. So get going fast. I sincerely wish you the best.
Cheers.
I agree, you may also wish to attach the incoporation documents of the company. just make sure all is packaged professionally and authentic, u've no time left, hurry up , wish u d best

well you dont need to work for a company previously to earn a place with them in the future. what you need to convince them of is that the company has the capacity to employ you upon your arrival, it may be a post dated letter of employment like ay mentioned or just assurance, also VeRY IMPORTANT is your purpoted studies directly related to the company? you will need to link it up somehow for it to make sense. but dont go into payslips blv me, you will only be complicating matters

they are only trying to verify that you are a student and actually coming to canada to study. it is good to have toefl but it is not a requirement nor is it mandatory, but i hope your educational history is well documented also with your transcripts included, and you have good reasons for continuing your education in canada detailed on the study permit questionaire

hamzatafee There is definitely NO PATTERN whatsoever in the way CDHC operates and each case is determined separately and independently! For example, what delayed my case was that my school did not respond early when thy wanted to verify my transcript. People that we submitted same day got interviews b4 me, and some got theirs months after mine. many things are involved but why I say keep disturbing them is that I’ve seen cases where they issue the visas the same day after considering some peoples cases but that is not a rule So don’t worry, mine too stayed with them for 5 months and it’s not as if there was any problem with my documents or information, patient and keep praying, they will surely answer you.

I think its risky for you to say you want to travel to canada just to work for your uncle when you come back! consider it oh. it does not sound convincing to me from here. canada( from what i eventually got from the embassy) have seen 'successful' people claiming assylum etc once they got there. so please beware of that line. look for something more convincing. of course they will want to be assured that you will come back. tie it to something you have been doing in Nigeria or something you have a passion to do. you already have family ties already but they may still want something extra. or just say you want to study to enhance your employability in Nigeria. this uncle thingy of yours seems somehow ooo just my thoughts

Can anybody in the house highlight the process gone through by CDHC in giving VISA to applicants within two weeks. This is because i am of the opinion that to verify your documents from your University can even take much longer time compared with other procedures they still have to follow.
Or is there any specific things they watch out for in your application that make them finalise their decision quickly
I learnt that medicals alone take average of 2weeks.
Please respond

@aydracula, I want u 2 understand dat CDHC has far less applications to process in Feb compared to may till august because academic seissions generally start september. So most ppl apply may or b4 and so wait longer. Dont also forget u've previously applied, so some verifications would have already been done by CDHC thus reducing your processing time Thus ppl who hv prevoiusly applied or applying first during the less busy times tend to wait less 4 their visas

Gentlemen of the nairaland,
I need help and fast too. i just got a response from the almighty Canadian embassy. My student permit application was rejected. the reason given was that 'they are not convinced i am a bonafide student and they are not convinced i will return back to nigeria upon completion of my studies. now in my application i submitted a letter from my employer showing i have been given a study leave to show i will return. i also showed proof of admission by Mcgill university to the ll.m programme.
my questions are- what more could i have done to show i will return to nigeria and that i am a bonafide student? can i reapply for the student permit now or is it better to appeal the decision?. taken into consideration the fact that i deferred my admission last year, can i defer my programme again for another year. what more could i have done to impove my chances of getting a student permit?
wise men of the nairaland i need your advice urgently, please help.

Please help me out !!!!!!!! My good toni o ? Humm, I think the first thing that should be on your mind is the main purpose why you are in Canada. That is to STUDY not 'Hussle', That said, you dont need to apply for a work permit to work in Canada. The study permit gives you coverage to work only on campus provided you are on a full time study. If you want to work outside campus, then you need to apply for a work permit. I hope this suffice. But your concern now should be the study permit and to STUDY!!!

I am sorry to hear of your denial. First of all you know that you need to act fast now. In anwsering your queries, I will ask some questions from you. Generally, you can only defer for one academic session after that you have to apply again to your university for admission. SO you have to get in touch with your University on your status. By the way, why did you defered your admission last year. Second, I hope you know that you can only apply for visa THREE times and if you are denied the third time, you will be placed on suspension by the visa people for two years before you can apply for visa. That said, your reasons for refusal are okay. The course of action is enough documentations. First, you should get a letter from the Dean or the person in charge of admission in Faculty of Law at Mcgill attesting to your admission and the expectations they have from you. Second, go to your undergraduate university and get a letter of support from one of your previous lecturers that you finished from their faculty and saying some good things about you. If possible go to your secondary schl to get this same letter. Apart from this, on demonstrting you tie to Nigeria, it has to do with individual situations. So leave your email online and I will get in touch with you on the strategy to use based on your personal circumstance. But the good news is that you can still apply again based on the tbree month rule provided you are resuming for September. But you have to move fast, Dont worry, it will be well in Jesus' name. Just stay relaxed, People have gone thru that route before and made it. Cheers.

Please help me out !!!!!!!! My good toni o ? Nope, the study permit is different from the work permit. The CDHC only issues you a study permit. When you arrive canada as a student, you have to spend six months before you are eligible for a work permit in other words, you cannot engage in any work (except on campus employment). but afterwards, once you get the work permit, you can work (anywhere) as you study.i hope its clear
