CDHC got back to me exactly a month after submitting my application. My course is a 10months PG diploma in Wireless telecomunication and cost 2.3M. He has 3.5M in fixed deposit, whch i provided d statmt n letter 4m d bank and about 2.6M in his personal acct statement with landed property worth 10m and CSCS acct statment that presently worth abt 2.3m and his tax clearance card. I only wanted to make CDHC believe i will cme back 2 naija, that ws y i said i had 2 come monitor his poultry biz since his getting old and am d only son, though he has 2 dependant bt made CDHC understand that he has no dependant. moreso i made dem understand the prospect of a wireless ntw engr in nigeria, and the readily available jobs in this sector n also provide a study leave letter 4m my employer.
I included my toefl result, professional certificates, uni xcript, resume, nysc cert, and other relevant docs(all originals), my statemt, CSCS, and my offer of employment letter, accomodation letter 4m a family friend i will b putting up wit
I even went ahead to list the cost of my stay in canada, b reaking it down 4m tuition, telephone bills and xport within canada.

Really i dont understand their reasons 4 saying i am nt a bonafide student n i dont hav enuf funds.

May God help us 4m CDHC o.
To everyone out there that are waiting patiently and anxiously 4m CDHC, i wont to implore u to keep praying 2 God concering your application cos na only God 4 fit deliver d study permit 2 u o.
I intend defering d admission to january, so shd apply 2 d embassy again by oct/nov.
cos am nt ready to tie down my docs again, nt dis tym, cos i hav missed d opportunity 2 land a bigger job, bt my original docs ws somwhere on anifowoshe str, V.I while d job pass me by.

Mayb i was unable 2 convince dem enuf or mayb cos i dint pay my tuition, mayb! mayb!
Definitely God has a purpose having things work dis way.

May God help us.

Ah! 4 months is a long time o. about 80 working days I think. For dem to hold it for dat long means u have a gud chance(i guess). Wen is your school starting? Probably Fall (sept). Dats may also be anoda reason y they are taking their time. But if the wait continues keep payin  them a visit - like once a week - till they give u a definite reply.
Best of luck.

@delta, u're very funny.is der anythin u think i shuld do oda dan wait? i submitted evrythin i think dey need.i'm fresh outta nysc.attendin alliance francaise now jst to keep me frm going mad n tickin d days on  calendar.i dont mind goin to der offices evry day to sit wit dem cos i hav nothin beta to do wt my time as all my plans r 'hanging'.i cant even travel out even briefly to take my mind off it cos my passport is with d embassy(i hav a bk-up pasport i use jst for dubai tho,but wat if dey cal while i'm away?) Huh
d only thin i can think of dt dey can possibly refuse me for(God forbid!) is sufficient ties as i'm 22 goin on 23,unmarried,and if ders a psychologists der-i hav an itchy feet for travel.i may not com bk here bt i wont think i'll remain der either.i'm certain i'll get bored.probably float to somwer else.i applied for msc in management.i h was told i hv to do a pre-masters program(niagara college,NOTL,welland, ontario) so i'll do dat,get very good grades n muv to d bigger school
i've even been fasting(my mom wuld b proud) for this.feeling sleeepyyy now. wil do one more prayer session for my public intentions.

PORTHARCOURT, about past 4 dis evening,i got a call saying dat i was required to bring a fresh bank staement dat d one i submitted for (my dad's) wasn't legible.i KNEW dis as at wen i was submitting cos i culd hardly make out d figures myself since d bank's printer was misbehaving.n i was in such a hurry to get bk to lag dat i took it dat way instead of trying to get frm anoda branch(silly first bank bt i felt dey shuld kno if i'm bringing in a fake copy,i'll go out of my way to make it legible) with a beta printer.   luckily,i'm in ph n i had my dad call d bank to get me a fresh up-to-today's copy(are dey expectimg 2 c d 'inflated' funds had disappeared?it did double.now i hope dey wont complain about dat).
so i'm ready for dem,wil b bak to lag first thin monday mornin n head str8 2 d agency to ensure it gets to d embassy same day b4 dem giv me story Huh

I ve been followin dis thread 4 a while and i must confess dat d info i hav gathered has been very useful. I applied 4 a study permit@ d CDHC in april and am hopful dat i wil b granted a visa  soon since i hav gone 4 me medicals.
My advise 2 any1 applyin would b 2 take time 2 package your applicatn. I submitd my  applicatn wit a letter dat explaind in detail every doc dat was in my package. If u r 25 and above esp males, i advise u use a personal bank statemt. I  also advise that u tagged your doc and dont include any doc dat is not relevant 2 your applicatn. Finaly, u hav  2 pray cos dat luck  smiles on your path.

thnks for your contribution
u applied what time in may and how were u notified? and when were u told to go for medicals.
give us feedback so we can know whats to hope for cos mine has not been up to 2weeks, since i re applied!!!

@wonderbod
1. will i still be asked to come in for interview AFTER i've done my medicals - If they have no questions or clarifications from you, you wont need to go in for interviews.

2. is der anythin i can do to ensure that there's no delay with the results? Huh - Not really; just make sure you go for the medicals immediately you are asked to.

3.my school is supposed to resume sept 1st but i'll love to leave about a week before. IS THAT TOO EARLY? - No. The earlier you arrive, the better for you to settle down. What school/city by the way?

Everyone holding a Nigerian passport is seen as an intending Immigrant. we all know that less than 10% of nigerian students who travel either to the US or the EU return back to Nigeria immediately after graduation. Dont feel bad when your visa application is denied. Just look at it as not being soo lucky that day. Other students that got their visas approved didnt present more documents than u did or had more money in their account than u did. Its all a matter of luck.

i shuld b attending niagara college in welland, ontario.masters in international business.  i initially intended goin str8 for an MBA in a biz sch but d biz schools i wanted, york, rotman(u of T) n ryerson all needed work experience (i'm fresh frm sch) n der average student ages wer higher(i'm 22) n all them exams that i didnt hav time(jst decided to go bk to sch immediatelyin may,I was first leanin towards d uk,got an admission der b4 i changed my mind).ALSO got a 2.2. so i was adviced to go to this sch,do the one yr masters, get top grades den either stil go 2 a biz sch  or work for a year or two b4 going 2 biz sch. der fees r a lot lower dan d biz sch so if i get der n i dont like d sch.i'll just stick it out for d 9months or so Undecided.

I would have said you should go straight for the MBA; the work experience is good but sometimes universities overlook it if you have very good GMAT scores. At 22, you are more of an asset in an MBA class and it would be very beneficial for you if you mingle and work on class projects with people alot older than you with good work experience. The networking, thought process, etc cannot be underestimated.

Regardless, time is on your side. With a 2.2, it's pretty difficult getting into a Master's program; So, make sure if/when you go for your program, work VERY hard to make a very good result so that you can get into any university of your choice. It's very easy to be side-tracked. York has a good business program. Good luck.

P.S. Why are you going to do a private medical test? You dey fear?  Grin  Undecided
P.S.S. The medical test is for HIV, syphilis, TB (x-ray) and your medical history will be taken. Good luck on this one; you probably need it  Smiley

@wonderbod , wishing you all the best. Seems u r focused and know what you want. When u do get into the college in Welland, do very well and if time permits, do volunteer job (a form of gaining experience) and dereafter, u should go 2 any school of your choice hopefully.

As Delta already said, York gat a good business school, well they all do so good luck dear. Keep us updated
