BTW, your intending destination is a major city but that's not a major factor to being focused. You really have to discipline yourself. I hope you can discipline your agro too  Tongue

Hi All, I have a story very similar to wonderbud's.

I was on way out of town yesterday when my mum called that a DHL postman brought a mail meant for me to her office(cos i decided to use her address for easy reach). I immediately made a U-turn and sped straight to her office to discover it was from CDHC instructing me to go for medicals,  I was awed ,  because i just submitted my application like 15 working days ago.
I've been making out theories why the almighty CDHC is suddenly tryin to be 'nice' to me ,  and 'Na God' is all I  can imagine.
I booked an appointment wit the V/I clinic same yday for sometime next week

@Those who have already gone for their medicals, i'll be glad if u post anythin u think I should know before goin for the medicals

@fidelo and toni, imagine i went to embassy to update my application with sales invoice and receipt, statement of account ending june but i was advised not to drop it. the security told me that if they need them, they will contact me cos there is no way they could merge my previous application with the new one because they av more than 5thousand application at head, so they get to by turn-viewing my previous application which i sent on june 1st but could not include the invoice and receipt and the bank statement ended march 24 cos my sponsor was not around and i had to meet up with the deadline.
should i just wait still the consulate's response or go post it by courier?
i am so happy for the gudnews we are receiving this days from the Almighty CDHC, i know i will  be called for medicals too.

i was going to leave this question to d pros to answer but if u ask me,i think going to visit at this point will do u more harm than good.if u followed d story of aydewale one of the earlier pages, they held his for a very long time too and he kept going ther to fill inquiry formS and askin wat was happening.
this is frm one of his posts, over two months after he hadn't heard frm them n several visits later,
Hi everyone, igbo, a pretty lady and myself were at the Canadian embassy yesterday and we got different info. Igbo was told his was still being processed. I was however told to go for a medical test at one of two designated hospitals. One in Yaba, the other in VI. I was also asked to come for an interview with police report which I had submitted when making application.they also asked for additional financial evidence.I had submitted my scholarship letter covering over $40, 000, my CSCS statement and share certificates worth over 2 million naira and my personal statement of account of over a million.Glory be to God and tanx to evryone. I would however need advice on the the stuff I was told to submit and on what to expect at the interview

   WISHING U THE BEST!

@ globalpaul, i cant believe u're just submitting dat stuff, i remember a bunch of us on dis thread telling u  to go submit the docs as soon as u gat dem some weeks ago.
Secondly, a security guard has noo right watsoever to tell u wat to submit or not. Dont forget u paid a processing fee so its your right for them to see watever document u feel should help to decide your case positively.
Remember telling u guys dat I got a scholarship letter from my school recently, I was there early dis week to submit dat to them and all they asked for was my tracking no (which I gave dem) b4 collecting the letter so your docs can ALWAYS be merged. Even if  they have 1 million applications, all dose people paid application fees.
Dont just wait for the consulate's response because u can guess wat it will be with outdated account statements. Courier it to dem or better still, take a trip down there, its only a stone throw away from Ibadan

I think the CDHC are bunch of thieves collecting huge sum of money from agencies that submit student visa application on behalf of their clients

This is because applicant that had gone through these agents fall into the 95% of category being asked to go for medicals and subsequently being given VISA thus neglecting other genuine students who dont have "ghana must go" kind of money to offer agencies

Very soon, they shall be exposed in Jesus name Amen

Haba! u sound very bitter.Personally,i dont think the agencies 'rob' other people of visas.I used one and i'm glad i did.I'm not trying to be rude and i hope this doesn't come across as me been conceited. it is also NOT because i've been called for medicals. I used an agency but mainly because
1.They usually have particular schools they are representing and kno wat each school needs as an admission requirement, that way u don't was
te valuable time applying to a school that won't take u in.You also get your admission letter and other things needed from the school fast since
the agency has their head offiice in canada.
     2. u don't have to try to sort everything out on your own(wer to go for police report, who to meet, which bank to pay to,or which bank draft to
use for what et all) .i,for one, can't find my way around lagos.
     3. There is always somone for the embassy  to reach because someone from the agency goes to d embassy almost everyday either to submit one
application or the other so you quickly  know when ther's somethig they need from you not getting there after waitin endlesl at home to find out.
4.They give you the list of what is needed and they impress upon you why u must not bring anything forged and there is a team that takes
time to go over your application and re-package it.(i have heard of  several people frm the agency who weren't given visas but when this
happens you see it coming.for example,if u insist on omitting by yourself some of the things that were specifically asked for by the embassy or
you try to blend in forged documents with originals).

4.if and when you do get the visa(they also experience the delays),u won't arrive canada feeling like a fish out of water(i don't know a soul there)  because in the same agency
there are probably an average of 10 people headed for the same school you're going to and everyone gets as travel as a group(if u so wish).

DID YOU CONSIDER THAT THE SO CALLED '95%' SUCCESS RATE COMES FROM EXPERIENCE, THEY DO THE SAME THING OVER AND OVER AGAIN
(AND IN THE CASE OF MY AGENCY,THEY ONLY DEAL WITH CANADA,THEY ARE OLD AND HAVE A REPUTATION TO PROTECT).ASK
YOURSELF,'WHAT ARE THE CHANCES OF A VISA BEEN REFUSED IF ITS PACKAGED BY THE PROS(eg DELTA) ON THIS THREAD AND THE APPLICANT
FOLLOWS EVERY ADVICE GIVEN TO HIM OR HER?
no one is saying they don't make money off their clients.Of course they do which is why they remain in bussiness.IF, IF they bribe the
folks at the embassy,i';ll view it same way i''ll view a really good cook adding MAGGI to soup or a very crafty and experienced thief going to a
      a baba for 'ode eshi'.
ALL I'M SAYING IS,IF U ARE A VERY BUSY PERSON,A NOT-SO-METICULOUS PERSON OR YOU'RE NEVER STEADY IN ONE PLACE AND U CAN AFFORD A REPUTABLE AGENCY'S SERVICES(MY COLLEAGUE REFERED ME TO THE ONE I'M USING.SHE USED THEM WHEN SHE DID HERS),it just might be the way to go. Wink.if u can't afford one or you just don't want to use one, then a thread like this is very helpful.POINT IS,whether you pay for the help or not, just get help. two (OR FIFTY?) heads are better than one.

I think you have a point but let me counter it by saying we Nigerians cause problems for ourselves. Alot of Nigerians submit fraudulent everything even bankdraft to apply for a Visa. At the end of the day, the genuine applicants will be affected, somewhat. It's unfortunate but that's what's happening in every embassy in Nigeria including the Canadian embassy. Travelling with a Nigerian passport is no fun; even for MMA, your countryman will harrass you for carrying the green passport. Funny thing is I have more reason to believe it's the Nigerians working in the CDHC that are actually doing a VERY poor job at screening or delaying these applications. With regards the agents, some of these agents have signed agreements with Canadian universities and the Canadian High Commission. My guess is, the CDHC see these agencies as genuine avenues to pre-screen applications (half of the work done already). The day these agencies bring in fraudulent documents, that will be the day business ends; so I'm sure the agencies are working hard to keep that relationship going to make enough change in their pockets; that's just my guess. I never used to believe that there were affiliated agents with CDHC until I personally met one last week here in Canada and after my rap with him, I was more than convinced. Should you go thru an agent? Nahhh, I do not think it's necessary (your choice tho). Their fees are just ridiculous and there's still no guarantee. I say, cross your "T-s" and dot your "I-s" and you should be fine. Goodluck to those of you waiting for responses!

P.S. The bottomline is that Present day Canada stands to gain from a net migration; that's the more reason the immigration policies is continually being flex-ed. The universities need their own fair-share of international students (and fees) and the Asians are not wasting time filling up that quota.

Congrats.

No you do not have to show any money. Infact, it would be pretty foolish to carry excess cash with you; perhaps you just need a copy of the bank statement you present in the event you are asked at the airport. I doubt you will be.  With regards insurance, I'm guessing they ment health insurance. When you arrive Canada, you'd be presented with the option of buying a health insurance (from your school) if you do not have one already. Congrats again and safe trip. All the best!
