Travelling To Canada

Hello Everyone,
My visa has just been delivered this afternoon.
I'll post details of wat I feel helped me succeed later to assist those planning to make fresh applications or those planning to re-apply.

Anyone with a gud knowledge of travel from Nigeria to Canada shld pls post preffered airlines and posssible fares on this thread.
i plan to leave on the 3rd week of August.

also i want all nairalanders to know that cdhc has started asking for income tax clearance of your sponsor so make una sogi una self, the clearance is about 60k to arrange na naija we they

Congrats. Make sure you go buy your ticket real fast. Flights out of LAgos to Canada are usually booked solid in August. BA, KLM, AirFrance, etc are valid airlines. I have a good travel agent I could recommend but there are lots in Lagos. Make sure you are booked thru Europe, not thru the US otherwise you'd need a US visa. Again, congrats and best wishes in your future waka.

Go to the embassy and make an enquiry. The medicals take wks or thereabouts. 6mths is excessive. The medicals expire after a yr!

@ Delta, tnx 4 d contact. I called Moji dis mornin but she said she was not at the ofice, so I'll call her up again later today. My final destination is Saskatoon. I will like to know the cheapest route to get there. I called KLM resevation dis mornin n they said I was going to pay abt 420 k ( to me dats an outrageous amount) for Lagos - montreal - Saskatoon route, but i'm tinking of comin in tru Toronto, Halifax or better still Calgary since its closer Saskatoon(and then use an alternative transportation from there).

I will advice that you get your tix fast, it is the busy time of the year, however, if you are not too much in a hurry, September is a little cheaper.

  congrats!! i still havn't heard anythin frm dem.i'm so worried.obviously,evryone i kno dt did der medicals same time hav gotten ders.I got a call on my birthday,the 22nd, from a  guy dt used my agency saying his visa is out.needless to say,i was depressed for the rest of the day.
 Did u pay your fees earlier? cos i havn't.my agency asked me to wait until d embassy for a receipt of payment b4 i pay.they also had issues wit the school i earlier applied for n d spaces reserved for all der students was given out including mine(i hv d option of stil payin der fees and gettin on a waiting list).  jst  last wk they reapplied to 2 oda  schools (schools dey represent).they assured me i'll definitly get the admission bt now i'm wondering if dt isn't affecting the visa(dey said it wont).i dont kno wat to do anymore. if i had known d process even took dis long,i wouldn't hav started anythin.i'm already out frm d uk school i was going for wen i decided to do canada.ANYONE WITH USEFUL ADVICE PLS?

Tnx Dear,sad to hear u are stil on d wait list since our medicals was jus a day apart. I must confess dat dis hole waitin game is not funny @ all. Hav u tried paying dem a visit since den? I suggest u do if u havent, instead of waitin 4 dem agents to do evrytin 4 u. I feel they(d agents) might jus be a bit laid-back about d hole issue since it dosent directly affect dem. GOOD LUCK

it takes btw 2-3wks after medicals to get your visa. BTW all things been equal.

i ve gotten admission both to carleton and univ of alberta, so i am still deciding on the one i wld want to attend, i submitted my application to the embassy since may

I find it rather suprising that you didn't make up your mind on which of the 2 schools to attend b4 applying. Anyway, i made my application packaged by myself in april. I was calld 4 medicals in june and was granted the visa 2 wks after. Have u been calld 4 medicals yet? If not, visit the CDHC and find out was up with your application
