download virtual pc 2007 (google it, its free), install it and then run it. it allows you to install win xp and run it simultaneously with vista without partitioning your hard drive and bothering with drivers. however it has no usb support. for that you need parallels workstation (not free) which i can gladly share including keygen.

@Poster
windows XP has an enemy on your laptop its SATA  Grin hehe
yea that's the bad boy that makes winxp not recognize u have a hard disk.
so installing winxp will be piece of cake if u disable SATA, but then again, HP in their "wisdom" have removed the option to disable SATA from the bios in most of their recent bios upgrades. i pray u have the option to disable SATA in your bios, if u don't u're pretty screwed.
but there's always a way  around screw ups.
if u don't have the option to disable SATA u do one of two things. its either u slipstream your winXP installation disc with the intel SATA drivers or u downgrade your bios.
i prefer slipstreamin, it ain't too simple though but its a working option for me. nothing as bad as downgrading your flash and ending up with a BSOD. i use nlite for slipstreaming. just google "slipstreaming windows XP CD" u should have good results to learn how to do it.
