Introducing Nigeria's Online Medical Community - Www.naijamedico.com
« on: March 12, 2008, 11:44 AM »

Dear Nairalanders, I wish to respectfully introduce to you Nigeria's Online Medical Community called "Naijamedico".

It is a site that we hope will bring together all medical students and doctors from Nigeria wherever they may be. We believe that in providing a means of communication amongst ourselves, our generation of medical practitioners will improve our lot by being liberated from the limitations imposed on us by our environment, repositioning ourselves to becoming truly global doctors, succeeding in every area of endeavor we may so desire. We believe that if we heed the advice of those who have treaded a along a path before us, we are unlikely to make the same mistakes that they did, provided that the advice is available to us. Doctors in other developed countries have made a lot of progress individually and collectively through their own online communities, so why can't we? We believe that this is a HUGE dream and thus have pledged a life time commitment to see it through.

Registered members get to enjoy the following
-free downloading of Past questions (Primaries for now) from our Free Downloads Centre
-free publicity of their events/activities to all other doctors/visitors as well as potential sponsors
-free advice from medical practitioners all over the world on any subject matter from passing exams (whether local and foreign) to career guidance to working abroad
-easy access to breaking news in the medical field locally and internationally
-publication of articles
-private forums for discussion amongst old and new members of various associations
-your blog and many more ALL FREE OF CHARGE

THERE IS ABSOLUTELY NO YAHOO YAHOO OR YAHOOZEE ON THIS SITE.

We sincerely hope that you will take advantage of this offer, and look forward to hearing from you how you think we can improve the site to suite your needs

@mikkyangel, Myasthenia gravis is a serious disease in which your body's immune system behaves abnormally by attacking your body's cells - in this case, some tiny receptors between your nerves and muscles. It must not be taken lightly as it can in extreme circumstances result in death. Considering the gravity of this disease, and the severe side effects of the drugs you mentioned (as well as others required which you didn't) I advice that you work hand in hand with your physician, preferably a neurologist in a teaching hospital.

Most of us doctors have alot of grievances against medical practice in Nigeria. From poorly equipped facilities to poor motivation and low salaries to high mortality rates to high incidence of brain drain. Most times we only talk of these things amongst ourselves and anyone who cares to listen. People hardly know more except what Govt. tells them. www.naijamedico.com is a place where you can talk freely about your grievances, opinion and views in a free uninhibited manner for the whole world to see and know the truth! Who knows, our next health minister might even be there too!
