Zizou ko, Zizou ni.

If Zidane won it, i will suspend myself from watching football for 1 year.

How wonder how he won best player in World cup with that behaviour while Christana Ronaldo lost the young player's one because of wink. I will never forgive the English press.

Congrat Cana.

I would probably have given it to ronaldinho but the guy dissapointed me big time at the world cup. Zidane had at best an average season with Real madrid and an average world cup too + he didnt win anything last season!!club or country!!
Canavaro had a title winning season with Juve and captained Italy to the world cup. i think he deserves it. The votes were from natinal teams' coaches and captain, these are football people so they know what they are talking about

If what happened yesterday had happened before the Gala Award Nite, i'm sure Zizou would have taken it.

Uche Ikechukwu made him look too ordinary as he dribbled past him and Guti to score the second goal against Real Madrid.

Muki, that's sentiments. Zidane won nada to be proud of, thank God he's retired jare, let the old man rest. His name was squeezed up the list, if he had won it, FIFA'D lose their respect for a long time to come.

'Navarro's d man to beat so give it to him.

If it was a World cup only award, he wouldn't have won it.
If it was a Club performance only award, he still wouldn't have won it, so what explanation will those faggots give to the elites for handing him a parting gift of that nature?

@ kit

Come off it.

You kno he deserved it.

The best defenders get skinned on the pitch all the time.

It's the consistency that matters.

UP CANNA

@ Hustler, i cannot agree with you more! I remember Puyol getting skinned for Barca on the way conceeding that goal at the final of the world Club cup, what about that second goal by drogba at the nou camp?
Ferdinand is a top dog, but i can't forget joe cole tturning him into a spectator at the bridge last season
Terry himself was given a good turn around by our own Yakubu last season
I think out of the three people shortlisted, he deserves it most!

@ Kit,

Someone raised an important question on TV today:

The Super eagles have never won a major tourney since 1994 but are the 9th best in the world and 1 in africa.

The super falcons have won trophies for keeps yet are 24 in the world despite representing africa in major tourneys also, are those FIFA guys actually normal?

How did Zidane's name get there in the first place. SOmeone said the world cup is like four champions league for the fact that it comes up once in four years and is the worlds most coveted trophy, no yawa, all the same they were fair enough not to give it to him.

What's going to happen today as per African footie of d year?

I think Zidane's nomination and his award as best player at the world cup were parting gifts from Fifa to him.

How did a player who had just one "very brilliant" game against Brazil at the world cup win that award.

I'm still wondering.Pirlo was man of the match for 3 games at the world cup.Buffon and Canna were also very consistent.

Have a lot of respect for Zizou. He's been such a terrific player but he didnt do enough last yr to be in the top 3.

Kaka or Eto'o should have been the last nominee.

For those symphatetic with Henry's cause, it's a pity he'll never win it.

I don't think the people who vote for these awards think he's in a league competitive enough.

Abi what other reason??After all Ruud has never won it too.

Only if they din't consider equal distribution of this title!
Yeah! so fair for a defender also to win but I can't fathom how those proffessionals can vote Cannavaro before Ronie and Zizou the football masters.I thought world player should have special skills apart from those in books which fabio has
Am over it anyway!

Why thank him when its obvious you both hate the French? A World Cup is meant to determine in such a year who is/was best especially as this event is eagerly awaited for 4 years, Zizou made all others look ordinary at the Mundial, so what are u talking 'bout? Henry lived up to expectations as against what peeps hitherto felt about him, ask Brazil!! I can't remember Dinho being at the Mundial, was he?? How many of u having watched Cannavaro being messed up anyhow after being crowned can proudly say he is the present King of Footie?

What we think is that, the last post before yours was on the 27th of December!! So in my books that was last year.

Since you are the first to post in this thread for the year 2007, you should follow your own advice and post about the "New stars" Huh as you put it.

Don't you think that would be a good idea; hey! Sil Wink
