Gamine, as mentioned above, go for whatever is in demand where you are. However, whatever you chose be it C++, Java, etc., just make sure you get a very good grasp of software development principles at large. By doing so, you should be able to transiton to another programming language wittout much difficulty, if the need arises. The programing language is really the tool to get the job done. However, a very good understanding of the principles will go a long way.
