I love listening to the radio and believe me,I have one everywhere I go. Music is Life! Stumbling upon this thread set me going. My love for music runs so deep, cant hold a tune in a bucket. But, apperciate good music when I hear it. There is something that just touches your core, that's inexplainable. I went for an exhibition a few weeks ago, and the host and hostess were from the French speaking part of Africa. The selection of music they had was to steal for. Then it happened, they pulled out Manu Dibango.Wow, he was breath taking. Back to the thread, I love Henri Dikongue of Cameroun Sally Nyolo of Cameroun Salif from Mali. Try this website, gives you a profile of loads of african artists. http://www.africanmusiciansprofiles.com/profiles.html

Where in Lagos can these artists Cd's be found? I tried all the vendors and they thought I was talking from my rear end! Then I went to a place called Jazz hole on Awolowo Road, Ikoyi. The have quite an impressive collection, and most artists have at least one of their albums. But the prices jazzed a hole in the pocket. Any suggestions? ?

Mohawkchic, Checked out Salif and Evora on Youtube it was awesome. African music is very much underated by Africans themselves.I love Western music also, but good old African music does it for me anyday. Wow, I dont believe you haven't explored the goldmine in Camerounian music. It is so rich, vibrant and exhilirating. I love papa wemba. Big up to African artists all over the World. Asa - Nigerian ,is an artiste I brushed aside for wanting to be a wanna be, but ate my words after listening to the Cd. Check her out too.
