As the global celebrations of Nigeria‘s Prof. Chinua Achebe and the golden jubilee of the novel, “Things Fall Apart” progress, the world’s biggest library, the United States Library of Congress, is to host an event in November to honour Achebe, Empowered Newswire has said.

The US government-owned Library of Congress is the largest library in the world, according to US government records.

The library located in Washington DC, has “more than 138million items on approximately 650 miles of bookshelves.

The collections include more than 32million books and other print materials, 2.9million recordings, 12.5million photographs, 5.3 million maps, 5.5million pieces of sheet music and 61million manuscripts.

Achebe‘s US-based son, Dr. Chidi Achebe, confirmed that the library had written to invite Achebe to the event in November 14, two days to the world renowned author‘s birthday.

He said the event was designed to honour the 50th anniversary of Things Fall Apart and also celebrate Achebe‘s 78th birthday, which will be marked two days after on November 16.
