A US man who is six months pregnant has spoken out on The Oprah Winfrey Show yesterday, calling his pregnancy a "miracle."

Thomas Beatie's intimacy change operation 10 years ago did not affect his reproductive system. He appeared on the show with his wife Nancy. She claims to have inseminated him using spermatozoa from an anonymous donor. Their doctor says it is a normal pregnancy.

He said his pregnancy was a "human desire" and that he is "a person and I have the right to have my own biological child."

Mr Beatie told chat show host Oprah Winfrey he had always wanted a child. He explained that his wife was unable to get pregnant because she had a hysterectomy.

“I see pregnancy as a process and it doesn’t define who I am. “Ironically, being pregnant doesn’t make me feel any more female or feminine. It doesn't make me want to go and shave my legs or something. I'm a man, I just happen to be a pregnant man.

"It's not a male or female desire to have a child," he said. "It's a human desire. I have a very stable male identity."

"I opted not to do anything with my reproductive organs because I wanted to have a child one day. I didn't know how. It was just a dream."

Viewers in the US on saw footage of Mr Beatie's ultrasound scan and heard a heartbeat.

"It" is a female who stopped taking her hormonal treatment for 3 years so "she" can conceive a baby with her "female" partner who could not have any other children. Kept all her "female" parts and only grew an enlarged focal place, large enough for penetration.  This transgendered inseminated herself with a "turkey" baster and got pregnant after a failed IVF cycle with "it's" reproductive specialist. 

Not a "real" man so to speak.

when first heard of this story i thought it was really a man 
but as almondjoy pointed out, its a woman who had a intimacy change, but still kept the reproductive organs. . . . she looks like a man though.

are you sure about that? . Most Nigerian males bellies from 30+ can be mistaken for 6 months pregnancy . There was a guy that a waitress had to ask a guy "when is the baby due" .

I have a mental picture of you and sure you will really look "sexy" with you protruding "belly". Please volunteer for a pioneering research so that this time, a baby rather than akpu or swallow will be in your tummy. Maybe you Will appreciate women more

While i am for liberalism , some things are just morally wrong. A doctor actually oversaw this whole process. The female in question is selfish and attention seeking. You don't decide to change your intimacy and change your mind to have a baby. She already had a womb. No amount of hormonal injections can change that. He is genetically a FEMALE and will always be. You can't always have it all. I thought freaks had been banned from the circus show

Am sure the baby would understand perfectly well when she grows up and even boast about it to her friends in school. It is only in a country like Nigeria that people are shocked, amazed and gossip about things like that. intimacy change is quite common here in UK.

Its disgusting, What the hell is going on, The shim purposefully did not remove its reproductive organs so shim could have a child yet the shim wants to be a male, please tell me how this f-ed up people could possibly raise a child and not confuse the bleep out of them, Rubbish and nonesense hissssssssssssssssss

it is not a miracle, he use to be a woman. God is not to be mocked. an man can never give birth to children, thats a womans job.
