battles

- what is a battle ?
a battle is a game between 2 or more designers. where 1 person starts with an image gives his or her image to the other and he or she plays around with the image and passes it back and so on,
and you can do this with 2 people or more, depending on what you want.

- why battle ?
other then being fun it also teaches you allot! you can see how people build their images, if you trade psd's for example. see how they use your image, what they change and so on.

- how to start a battle ?
this is the easy part, make a new thread and say you want to start a battle, and wait untill you get a reaction. or you can send some one a PM asking if they want to battle.

the programs
this just doesnt really matter, any graphic programme can be used in a battle.
from photoshop to flash from 3Dstudio max to illustrator.

- what size do you need?
once again this is all up to you, some people do wallpaper battles, some go really small and some don't set a size and change size every round.

I get your drift now. But my argument is - "What happens when the original image has been heavily distorted by the other participant?" Like I said, the image you posted back, I can't work with that. You saw the modifications I did myself? I thought you'd do something interesting, maybe draw up a jacket for the lady or something. Inverting the colours to negative and adding a few random patterns was not my idea of graphics battle at this level.

Cheers

Why not just make rules that work for both of you?

Yeah, that could work - let's hear what justbones has to say about it. He started the battle in the first place!  Cool

Re: Graphics Battle

what if we set a limit to the amount of distortions that can be done at one time
lets say that the image is 1280 x 800, one can only distort like 200px on one side of the image.
what do you think of that?
i'm open to more suggestions

Heres my 5 cents.

I have participated in a graphics battle before, it was photoshop based and these were the rules.
typically, it is a head-to-head , that i only two contestants in each battle.

1.The "battle starter" would begin with an image with a single layer
2. Each contestant would then have "10 minutes" to add a new layer.
3. a winner is determined either when one participant gives up or the image is simply too choked up.

However this is naija so the time limit for each post would have to be maybe 3 or 4 hours cause of internet access beef

Maybe it's best to have a neutral referee and battle moderator, to specify the battle rules between both contestants.

Till then, here's one more modification  Cool
