What makes sports fan to declare their loyalty to clubs "for life". If it's because of their performance, then what happens when their performance is low?

I am not a fan of any Premiership club, though I respect Premiership fans (because it is their choice, their right etc). For me, it is about players, Kaka, Ronaldo, and most especially Gerrard who inspires me so much.

 I feel you. Am an arsenal fan . But of lately the team is beginning to mess up. Wenger is a good coach-technically sound. Considering the amount he has spent on players, he has done very well compared to other coaches. But his policies are becoming too annoying. Y should eboue play right wing? Our centre back is not solid. Look at the cheap goals we conceed against good teams.
when you compare our players one on one with other premiereship top 4, u'll see that we are far behind. Wenger buy players. matured players. spend some hard cash, u aint the one paying them

I feel your frustration. However, the truth of the matter is I only started to watch football because I heard a club won the league because they spent more money then the opposition (that's Chelsea) so I became interested and have been hooked ever since. Mikel's move to Chelsea strengthened my support of them.

On a different note, if the Nigeria league where any good I'd watch it and support my home club which is (Delta UTD) but it's so cr*p only someone with nothing better to do would watch it. SO till the league in Naija improves,
