Pastor offered me R10 000 to sit in a wheelchair,  stand up and walk
Faith healer or fake healer: Pastor Chris | From architecture to saving souls

Nigerian preacher and healer Pastor Chris Oyakhilome has been accused by a member of his own church of staging miracle-healing sessions.

Some of his followers have said that he has been hiring people to pretend to be sick and disabled and then “be healed” during his television shows and public prayer meetings.

A man who did not want to be identified for security reasons said: “I was offered R10 000 to rehearse and pretend to be in a wheelchair three weeks before the all-night prayer called Night of Bliss at the Johannesburg Stadium.”

Last weekend Pastor Oyakhilome hosted an all-night prayer at the stadium. The source told Sowetan that he started attending Christ Embassy church in Randburg last year.

He was recruited by one of the pastors and told he would be paid if he helped to draw crowds. “The pastor told me that they were looking for people to work for the church.

He said that I was going to sit in a wheelchair and be wheeled around while pretending to be physically ill. I would then stand up and walk as soon as Pastor Chris stopped praying for me.”

The source also said that the people who are “healed” every time on stage are actually trained weeks before.

“Even children who are healthy are whisked around in wheelchairs. Some use crutches. “Everyone is allocated a person who tells the congregation about your background, your specific illness and suffering. “The pastor then raises his hands and places them maybe on your legs if you cannot walk, and a few seconds later you get up and walk around the room,”the source said. He said he called the church the day after their offer and turned them down.

“I just told myself that using the word of God to lie to desperate people is immoral, so I refused to take up their offer,” said the source.
A woman who went to the all-night prayer service, said: “When he started healing people, I did not see him call anyone from the audience. The people that he ‘healed’ came from a certain section of the audience and it looked like he came with them especially for the event.

“I saw a lot of people in wheelchairs leaving the venue who had not been healed. It was very sad.

”Lerato Moeketsi told Sowetan she was a loyal follower of the church and was disappointed that she could not make it into the stadium. “I had to turn back because the stadium was full. “There was no way I could go through to receive his blessing,” she said.

Thousands of followers jostled for space at the stadium.

The seriously ill, mostly disabled and in wheelchairs, went to the service in the hope of being healed by Pastor Chris’s powerful prayer. Another woman, Tshinanne Nemutudi, said she went to the all-night prayer service because she believed in Pastor Chris.

“I trust him the way I trust Jesus and God. ”She said she had problems with her ankle but Pastor Chris had healed her. “While he was praying, he said we should all touch our body parts that needed to be healed. He said that if we believed then we would be healed.”

Oyakhilome ’s website describes him as a pastor, teacher, healing minister, television host and best-selling author whose career spans 25 years.

He runs the church with his wife, Pastor Anita, who is the director of Christ Embassy’s international office and also preaches at the Christ Embassy churches in the United Kingdom.

Pastor Chris also hosts a religious programme on TV called Atmosphere for Miracles. At the Randburg branch, brother Onyeka Liozo said what the source and the followers said “was rubbish”. “We have a healing school in Randburg. People ask and get healed.

People must stop lying about this holy crusade,” said Liozo. He said that people come from outside South Africa for help.

Pastor Chris is both controversial and mysterious. The press is barred from taking pictures at his healing services.

Even if wonders stop occuring in the world, it will never end in Nigeria.

I watched a documentary on pastor T.B Joshua recently, the people he healed from HIV and all other diseases from South Africa, who equally testified that they were healed, travelled back to south Africa and were sick again with same disease for which he healed them from. It was all drama. he was unable to heal a white south African who had a liver problem, he asked the man to go back to south Africa and return in two weeks but the man died in SA a week later.

Govt should look into the activities of these Pastor because' they are harming our image oversea.

May GOD HELP US ALL.

I don blame u. Even when Jesus christ waz preaching the gospel, people said he has a demon.  So, it is no big deal if u say Pastor Chris is Fake. his master suffered same persecution and rejection.

I waz once like u. I grew up 2 believe he is fake. but when I read his books, I found out he knows something u cannot know except u know God.

I pray u too will understand.

Why is it that some of us are blaming pastor Chris when it was someone else that paid the so called unidentified person to pretend? Then again that church is big and there is segregation of duties. Some people can be Judas Iscariot even in a godly environment and that was the case of the so called mumu that tried to pay the guy to pretend. I believe in miracles and i don't think he is a fake. Miracles are from God not man. There are preachers and there are preachers and i don't think pastor Chris is a fake.

maybe all the twats believing all their pastors/man of God/imams are righteous and true would start having a rethink, especially the ones on NAIRALAND!
God knows best, this world is crazy especially in Nigeria where a lot of money making motives is the reason some of this so called fake men of God are out there, a pastor flying around in helicopter while congregation member bus it about is just ridiculous, pastor dipping his di/ck in a congregation member's wife, tithe donations disappearing or even getting people to come and throw up pre-swallowed concoction(claiming miracle) is just fraudulent and dubious

churches everywhere, mosques everywhere, shrines everywhere, everyone claiming miracles and deliverance-fu/cking joke!

shine your eyes, it would shock a lot of people on the day of judgement, where our men of God would be heading, i wont judge so i rest my case

Of course Pastor Chris is a fake. He has been a fake from day one. Any man who is scared to use his own accent and has to fake a foreign accent is a dupe. The very first time I heard him with his fake accent, I did not need anyone to tell me he was a dupe.

@poster
I took a good look at that website and it didn't seem too credible. Not one that a wise person would trust.

Anyway,Pastor Chris' teachings are very sound, but as for the healing, hmm Undecided Give the guy the benefit of the doubt tho.

@Ibime
How are you sure his accent is fake?Have you heard the real one? Grin Grin

The bible says they know not, neither would they understand, they walk on in darkness. If you have ever seen the glory of God or had a personal encounter with God,you will not join in making comments that could impact on your future.Pastor chris is a man of God that have been tried and tested, yet he is still standing and as long as God is God,the miraculous will continue to flow from his life and ministry irrespective of whatever rumours or false news false people tell about his. So,if you are not sure of what to say about this, better be neutral.

i realli think its a crock of bull crap as far as im concerned, first off the random guy has nothing to lose by defaming the man and the man prolly has more to lose, also even if the man was into fake miracles, why will he soil his hands by getting involved or even talking or acknowledging the guy a virtual stranger , he collected the money and kept quiet and not has suddenly decided that the time is right, how can anyone teach children to fake miracles in front of hundreds of thousands, children will be children and no matter how good an actor/actress they are they ll mess up

hmmm, this takes me back to those days when he was all over he Nigerian Tv Channels. He healed a blind man that was born blind and never seen before. The moment the blind man regained his sight the Pastor asked him what was the color of the tie he(pastor) was putting on. Guess what the answer was. BLUE. Alas! how could someone who was born blind know color? Na real waaaaa.

Judging from your comments, i'm quite sure some of you people wouldn't mind picketing this guy's house and even physically harming him for daring to speak out.

I cannot speak for the accuracy or truth in this article, but everyone who's been asking for the guy to reveal his identity must be dumb. True or not, he has EVERYTHING to lose by revealing his identity, and if you can't see that then you're beyond help.
