Dad of 3 dies in pond

Cops unsure what caused Nigerian immigrant to crash into frigid water

By CHRIS DOUCETTE -- Sun Media

The Toronto Sun

A York Regional Police diver searches a pond on Rutherford Rd. for evidence after an Acura driven by Femi Oyewole crashed yesterday morning. Oyewole died. (Dave Thomas, Sun Media)

A Toronto father of three with everything to live for was killed yesterday when his car plunged into a pond near Maple.

York police say Femi Oyewole, 38, was heading east on Rutherford Rd., just east of Jane St., on his way to work when the bizarre accident occurred just before 7 a.m.

But they have no idea what caused Oyewole to veer off the road and slam into the small but deep body of water in front of the York Region public works department.

"All of a sudden (the car) accelerated for an unknown reason," Const. Paul Diceman said at the scene, which is only about 200 metres from a police station.

"The driver appears to have lost control of the vehicle. (He) crossed the westbound lanes, drove up onto the grass, struck a large rock and then went down into the pond."

Oyewole's distraught wife, Ibiwumi, said he was a young man in excellent health who didn't drink alcohol.

Re: Help Femi's Widow
« #1 on: April 10, 2008, 08:16 AM »

WHY IS THIS CASE SO SPECIAL?
This woman is left behind with three kids ages 8, 6 and 1-month. Just less than a month ago, they informed us of their newborn. This woman is not currently working as she just recovered from a life-threatening illness that took years of recovery. I mean this deceased man is the
sole breadwinner of this family. Late Mr. Femi Oyewole was only 38. This is absolutely devastating.

WHAT CAN YOU DO TO HELP?
Please feel the pain, shed the tears and mourn with the family if you can. Table this case before God. Are you a fervent prayer? Pray
ceaselessly for the Oyewoles. Give an anonymous call to 1-416-614-1760, if you can to admonish the widow. This woman needs our support now and
for a long time.

The bitter truth is, after the burial this Wednesday everyone will return to their destinations and back to their normal lives. Then the
calls will gradually stop coming but the only thing that will remain with this family is our prayers and words of hope and consolation.

@Iice

You need to put this thread on the front page of this site so that every potential helper can see it.

He was buried yesterday but his widow still has her eyes up in the sky for help from above. This life can pull on you real bad.
