I don't blame them at all.
Is it easy for them to even endure the noise level on these flights to Lagos.
It's insane.
They have to practically beg and plead with folks to sit on their seats and wear the seat belts.
You'll see these illiterate traders returning from  China and Singapore talking so loudly as though they own the aircraft.
Turning a boeing 747 into Alaba and ogbete market.
There was even one loud mouthed mama Iyabo taking off her braids on the plane and spreading lice Grin

Some of these people ought to be tossed off the planes at high altitude Grin

I take God beg you!! remove ogbete from that list!!! abeg put Aba market or Main market Onitsha Grin

such bad things they do to us should be on the Nigerian airwaves all the time but they (the radio and tv) would prefer to talk about  Jay-z and Beyonce

BA could be disrespectful to Nigerians in general but then we bought all the trouble for ourselves from the start

okay, next time i see a Somalian/Sudanese spitting on the floor, I guess it will be okay to stone him on the forehead after all the Janjaweed and their govt do far worse  Angry

good thing is, something similar will happen to one of us and we'll probably be too depressed to share it with your bosoms on nairaland Wink

that is why nigerians will always be suppressed and oppressed especially in the united kingdom, they are always have fragmented views and never a unity of purpose,if you read all the threads concerning this omotade issue ,you will wonder if some people are actually nigerians and why they even bother going to nigeria at all, they ignore their fellow nigerians and when they now suffer some racial discrimination, they are brought back to earth and remember they have a community that ll stand up for them somewhere, they are demonising the guy instead of applauding his courage and principles and you ll get some saying that serves him right that he should have sat down quietly and next time he will not speak up as if ,they will be where they are in uk if the first set of immigrants had sat down quietly and not challenged the system forcing change

An aircraft about to take off is not a venue for a union protest.
There are better ways to channel one's grievances.
Next time I promise you Mr Omotade will learn when to speak and how.
With all the terrorism around us,any gra gra on the airplane ought to be dealt with to protect us.

Finally, we have arrived at a perfect conclusion to this thread.  Nigerians should learn to address grievances throught the proper channels except in Nigeria where there are no proper channels.

Oduduwa and Are Ona kan kan Fo can be resurrected for all we care to sign the gaddem pertition  . . .the BA staff will not go back on their stand on this matterso no need to breathe on this topic any more.

@Dear Mr. "Ever Busy Body" Omotola,

Please next time you are on a Virgin Atlantic flight. . . since your arse has been banned from all BA flights FOR LIFE. . . . . . . . . . .including all your descendants who frankly should be banned for life too, since this busy body/over sabi problem may be genetic. . . .sit your bloody tail in your seat.

I am wondering if Mr. Omotola was a British born citizen who has spent like 50 years in Nigeria only to visit for the first time and was returning home to tend to his farm or something.  I think if he was a real "Brit", he would not have done what he did.  Abi na so "British" people dhey behave?

Why am I not surprised? Tongue

You can take the monkey out of the bush, but can never take the bush out of the monkey.  British born citizens or people who have lived there for a long time would not act like he did.

So Mr. Omotola. . . next time you hear things like "Mo ti ku ooooooooo", Egbami ooooooooooooooooh, Mo gbe oooooooooooooooooooh. . . .just shut your lousy mouse trap of a mouth and mind your business. Even if it was your only son that was being deported for being an unwanted refugee in the UK!

Praying passenger removed from plane at NY airport

NEW YORK - A passenger who left his seat to pray in the back of a plane before it took off, ignoring flight attendants' orders to return, was removed by an airport security guard, a witness and the airline said.

The Orthodox Jewish man, who wore a full beard, a black hat and a long black coat, stood near the lavatories and began saying his prayers while the United Airlines jet was being boarded at John F. Kennedy International Airport on Wednesday night, said Ori Brafman, a fellow passenger who spoke about the incident by phone from San Francisco, where he lives.

When flight attendants urged the man, who was carrying a religious book, to take his seat, he ignored them, Brafman said. Two friends, who were seated, tried to tell the attendants that the man couldn't stop until after he'd finished his prayers in about 2 minutes, he said.

When the man finally stopped praying, he explained that he couldn't interrupt his religious ritual and wasn't trying to be rude. But the attendants summoned a guard to remove him, said Brafman, a writer who had been visiting New York to talk to publishers.

The plane, Flight 9 to San Francisco, took off without the man. It landed at its destination as scheduled, Brafman said.

Robin Urbanski, a spokeswoman for United Airlines, a subsidiary of UAL Corp. with headquarters in Chicago, confirmed the man was taken off the plane and put on another flight Thursday morning.

Urbanski said flights cannot depart if all passengers are not in their seats, which risks a delay, and it is important that passengers listen to the instructions of the flight crew.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey, which runs area airports, and the Transportation Security Administration, which handles airport security, said Thursday they weren't involved in the incident.

Hi,

what happened to the nigerian passenger travelling for his brothers wedding was teribbly bad without much ado one does not need a sooth sayer to shout blue murder.

The BA staffs where biased and racial in their decision.and Thats why we must not all not close our eyes to such descrimination.

Ill treatment at most airport with people of color is becoming rampant.even Sout africa has returned to their appaarthied era.but this time against west africans.

Maybe when sudan humilates us we will all fight for our rights, neverthless, our leaders are rouges and nothing good can come out from them thats why the whites humilates us,Our people too need to be more civil

*Sighs*. Why do we always play the "racial discrimitanion" card?

The pilot was Nigerian, and as black as me - fact.

Mr Omo did interfere in deportation procedure - fact.

The remaining 136 passengers sat in silent mutiny, which could have become a full on row at 37,000 feet - fact.

Bishop, if I was the pilot, and I felt feelings could run high amongst the 136 passengers once airborne, I'd refuse to fly with them - untill I was satisfied they didn't pose a risk! Such matters are at the pilot's discretion. Do you expect him to fly a 747, and have to think what may occur in the cabin, and concentrate on the flight? Come on!

In the UK, the police, army and even the Citizens Advice Bureau do not want to become embroiled in a racial issue, white folk are most likely to get booked for speeding, whilst a black / Asian will probably get a caution.

The racial slant shouldn't be applied to every situation where things don't go our way. And by the way, I shall continue to use BA as long as the prices favour me.

The Orthodox Jewish man deserved to be left behind. Was he the only religious passenger on board?

Imagine if out of 300 passengers, 200 decided they wanted to pray at the back of the fuselage. What then? All that ballast shifted rearwards for take off?

He could have prayed in his seat, instead, he chose to create a scene.

Luckily, he got another flight, albeit a later one.Cheesy

Flight Attendant Boots Gwinnett Mom, Baby From Plane

POSTED: 4:51 pm EDT July 11, 2007
UPDATED: 8:21 pm EDT July 11, 2007

GWINNETT COUNTY, Ga. -- A Gwinnett County mother says she wants answers and action after she and her baby were kicked off a plane.

Kate Penland said she was glad to board the plane in Houston after an 11-hour delay to visit her father in Oklahoma. But she said a rude and aggressive flight attendant caused her to get to Oklahoma a day late.

Penland thinks her 19-month-old son, Garren, has a bubbly personality. But Penland said when they were aboard a Continental Express plane, a flight attendant became annoyed by Garren’s personality when he kept saying three words.

“As we started taxiing, he started saying ‘Bye, bye plane,’ said Penland. “At the end of her speech, she leaned over the gentleman beside me and said, ‘It’s not funny anymore. You need to shut your baby up.’

In disbelief, Penland asked the woman if she was kidding. It was then, Penland said, the flight attendant went too far.

“She then said, ‘You know, it’s called baby Benadryl. And I said, 'Well, I'm not going to drug my child so you have a pleasant flight.'

Penland said when the other passengers began speaking up on her behalf, the flight attendant got angrier and soon announced they were turning around and that Penland and Garren were going to be taken off the plane.

“I was crying, I was upset and I was thinking, ‘What am I going to do? I don’t have anything with me, I don’t have anymore diapers for the baby, no juice, no milk,” said Penland.

The young mother said she later learned the flight attendant told the pilot that she had threatened her. Penland said that never happened.

Express Jet Airlines released a statement that said, "We received Ms. Penland’s letter expressing her concerns and intend to investigate its contents."

A fellow passenger told Channel 2's Rachel Kim none of the other passengers had problems with Garren and that Penland never threatened the flight attendant.

Penland is considering legal action.

I assume you are trying to be funny. afi "british humor" naa

Not sure how the jewish situation has anything to do with the one at hand

Since when do jews get up and go pray in the back. More like Arab. People are supposed to remain seated on a plane during take-off, so why wouldnt he be "dealt" with.

I fail to see the comparision seeing that we don't know if Omotade got up from his seat when he made his comment.

as soon as the clock strikes 12, they must pray Grin
even if they have to do it in a public toilet.

Passengers removed from Flybe flight

A party of 30 business travellers were escorted off a plane before it took off from Glasgow to Belfast City last night.

Following allegations of serious disturbances and drunken antics on the aircraft shortly before take-off, police removed 30 passengers from the aircraft, a scheduled Flybe flight which was due to leave Glasgow at around 8.30pm on Wednesday bound for Belfast.

On top of the alleged rowdy behaviour, the captain had passengers removed after smelling alcohol in the main cabin.

Those thought to be involved remained in Glasgow, while the 17 passengers left aboard were flown to Belfast International Airport after a three-hour delay.

A statement from Flybe said: "The captain discerned a strong smell of alcohol in the passenger cabin, and in the interests of passenger safety and comfort, he off-loaded the aircraft.

"Given the subsequent late departure of the flight it was diverted to Belfast international where passengers were bussed to Belfast City Airport on arrival.

"Passenger safety is paramount in all of Flybe's operations and an investigation is under way to ascertain the full circumstances of this incident.

"The 17 passengers who travelled should contact customer services in Exeter to seek a refund."

Who said that the Brit's wouldn't have cleared the plane had all those on board Mr Omo's flight, been their own citizens???

I am sure the next time Mr.Omotade witnesses someone being deported he will keep his mouth shut and stay in his seat. The same goes for the others who were removed from the flight. Nonsense

You are really funny, instead of seeing the truth the way it is,you are there talking trash.I don't even see anything wrong in what he said, and if he was lying, someone would have spoken up.Do you know that someone was treated worst than that(tied up and gagged on the mouth) from spain and he died from such.So tell me what was wrong in him trying to calm the situation down.I support the notion that we boycott BA.
