Nineto five thanks for your childish reply. This is why I said little children will put their minds to talkiong absolute nonsense. Writing with a dictionary beside you does only one thing for the foolish being who stives only to write for his own enjoyment. The pretend smart ass forgets that a man who needs others to read his 'puerile' (childish) writings needs to write concise statements if he realy wants others to digest his lamentations. You would like people to believe Nigeria's problems is not ethnic, but in your mad rantings, you went to clearly absolve anyone from the SOUTH SOuth or South East from culpability in the destruction of Nigeria. Wrong my stupidily ethnic pighead. Igbo, Ibibios, Ogoni, Bini,Ijaw or any other tribal persuasion from the core South partook in the bounty and destruction of Nigeria. Open your eyes and you will see that many sons of the SS or SE were in the army, navy, airforce, who were milads, governors or sole admiinistrators. While they had the chance to redress the injustices done to their people and their lands, they instead went along to further degrade and rob their own people blind. Take of the blinders my dumb narrow minded ethnically challenged non name user fool, and maybe you can contribute to the building of a countrty which will be equitable for all.

Wow wow wow, what is all the ranting all about? oer a very mild eat shyt recommendation?, omo ti sun mio, lo cool down jare. Nineto five thanks for your childish reply. This is why I said little children will put their minds to talkiong absolute nonsense. Writing with a dictionary beside you does only one thing for the foolish being who stives only to write for his own enjoyment. Is very common for people to act the way you are doing right now to save face if they come across ideas that are completely alien to them and to make things worse they can't comprehend, what makes you think I do really give a rat ass what you think, face the reall issue at hand and stop being juvenile. The pretend smart ass forgets that a man who needs others to read his 'puerile' (childish) writings needs to write concise statements if he realy wants others to digest his lamentations. Is good to be a smart ass than to be a gelid bigot who has nothing to offer but the citation of the usual propagated ideas coined out by cammarillas who has no interest of the whole country at heart but the usuall tribal opportunism, what is new about your ideas, nothing mister!. You would like people to believe Nigeria's problems is not ethnic, but in your mad rantings, you went to clearly absolve anyone from the SOUTH SOuth or South East from culpability in the destruction of Nigeria. Yes the problem of Nigeria is not ethnic, but this does not mean that we don't have ethnic bigotry, we are all prejudice, it would be very delusional not to accept this, but the problem lyes in our inability to know that we should be able to sit down and legislate and come up with laws that would keep ethnic bigotry [tribalism] in check therefore creating an artificial unity that will in time blur out and kill our ethnic differences, I guess that sounds pretty much like quantum physics to you, the fact that people from the South East and the South South never led any of the governments that destroyed Nigeria is a fact you can not dispute no matter how you pusillanimously want to. Wrong my stupidily ethnic pighead. Igbo, Ibibios, Ogoni, Bini,Ijaw or any other tribal persuasion from the core South partook in the bounty and destruction of Nigeria. America is currently going through political suicide, but I don't see people blaming the governor of New York or that of California or Colin Powell but George Bush, stop being delusional my dear Friend, your argument is empty, purblind and at the same time in lack of probity Open your eyes and you will see that many sons of the SS or SE were in the army, navy, airforce, who were milads, governors or sole admiinistrators. While they had the chance to redress the injustices done to their people and their lands, they instead went along to further degrade and rob their own people blind. There is nothing in all these, but good old ranting meant for cosmetic purposes, and I will do us all a great favor by transferring them to the refuse collectors, can't you see that with this kind of nonsense that you want to peddle as facts would guarantee you the position of a loser in any argument any day any time. Take of the blinders my dumb narrow minded ethnically challenged non name user fool, and maybe you can contribute to the building of a countrty which will be equitable for all.
Take your time, take your time is all good.

I always wonder why things are not working in Nigeria, our country in seen has the biggest this and that in Africa mostly west Africa. but nothing is practically working for us.
PHCN has sworn not release power many people are still struggling for water I FOR ONE, the issue of bad road is no more a case. Our educational sector is becoming worse and worse even when all the manifestos of these so called politician carried FREE, AFFORDABLE AND GOOD EDUCATION FOR ALL LEVEL.
No doubt that our country is highly blessed with human and natural resources unlike other countries in the world that experience natural disasters, God has blessed us beyond this but our leaders become our disaster. All the natural and human resources put together do not produce any result.
We moved from military to democracy with the belief of moving forward but if you ask me THE SAME PEOPLE that rule with gaki are still the one with agbala (forgive my spelling). IS THAT A WAY FORWARD? Here comes my question!
1 IS NIGERIA TOO BIG TO BE ONE? 2 WHAT WILL BE A POSSIBLE SOLUTION TO OUR PROBLEMS? 3 WILL ITS BE BETTER OF IF DIVIDED INTO THREE OR FOUR COUNTRIES?

Well it really does suprise me too.Its just unfortunate that we have not had the right rulers since we gained our independence. For a Country as blessed as ours to be in the State it is now baffles all who actually know how blessed we are.In Nigeria the word POVERTY is not suppose to exist if only we know what we want.We just cant stop hoping for a leader like Pat Utomi to be voted in come May 29th.To the best of my knowledge the answer to your questions will be : 1) Nigeria is not big to be one because we have other Countries like China who have huge population but are still surviving with their resources even though we are more blessed than they are.Nigeria is blessed with resources that if well taken care of and invested will see us be among one of the best Countries in the world. The question though is why are our leaders so selfish? After stealing the money what happens if they never live to enjoy it? 2) I tink the possible solution to our problem will be good Goverance and planning. We need a leader with dreams and a leader who will stand by his dreams. We need to learn to use what we have well and if possible use it to get what we want. 3) I seriously think @ this rate it will be better off if divided as it gives each region the chance to manage their resources and of course it will be more than a success with Good leaders for each region. Its so so painful to know that as blessed as Niger Delta is there are no infrastructures there. All our leaders know is eat and forget to work. From what i have been reading though i tink it will be divided into 3 regions : (i) BIAFRA (ii) AFENIFERE(Correct my Spelling if am wrong) (iii) Nigeria(This name will remain with the Northerners) I however pray for a better Nigeria with innovative leaders.May God help us all.

IF Nigeria cant divide, then let all the six major regions be on their own. Different Police, Differnt People, Different system of education, Different Migrating system, because we all have different cultures and language. Nigeria have tried to create unity but they cant create one language for the people. With this the presidency will have less work and caliber of people that contest for presidency will also contest for these regional governor and local chairmans.

NO NO NO NO NO Dividing Nigeria will not solve our problem. It will rather create worse problems. Dividing Nigeria is no solution to checking - The thieves in the South South collaborating with the oil companies to short-change the host communities. - The thieves in the South East who imports fake drugs and sell same to their brothers and sisters - The thieves in the South West who betrays and sell their brothers (Abiola for example) just for cheap naira and kobo - The thieves in the North who cut the hands of a hungry thief who stole a loaf of bread, but applaud and cover up the pen robbers that convert state treasuries into personal purse and give alms from same to the masses they just stole from. , to be continued shortly

Our problem will be solved as a nation when we have LAW governing the activities of individuals in this nation. We need to be able to hold people responsible and accountable for their actions. We need to be able to punish those that step on the collective right of the society irrespective of their ethnic or religion background.
We need a society govern by LAW such that 50years after a crime has been committed in secrecy, the offenders can still be brought to face justice.
We need a scoiety where the LAW will have no respect of persons. It will give the same judgement to the RICH and POOR alike.

If Nigeria were to be divided into 3 parts, each parts will further break down. If Nigeria were to be divided into 6 parts, each parts will still have warring factions! If Nigeria were to be divided into Sates, each states will still have warring factions! If Nigeria were to be divided into Local Governments, each LGA will still have warring factions! Even if Nigeria were to be divided into families, each family will still have problems!!! Before you dismiss above statement check these facts: 1. Ife and Modakeke (both Yorubas in the west) have been having clashes, yet they claim to be from the same ancestors. 2. The Ijaws and the Itsekiri have made Warri and some other state in the South south war torn commuities. In Rivers State alone, there are more than 5 ethnic groups who hates each others as much as they hate strangers from other states. An Ogoni man does not trust an Ikwerre. The Ijaw suspects the Kalabari The Andoni man is suspicious of the Ogoni. So what will happen when you tell Rivers State that they are now a sovereign nation! Each of the ethicity group in the state will simply want to produce the President. So The Okirika will fight the Ogoni. The Kalabari will take up arms against the Ikwerres. Check out Port Harcourt. The various indigenes of Rivers State prefer trusting strangers than their brothers from different ethnic group. It is a well know fact in Port Harcourt that those from the riverine community are not having a cordial relationship with those from the mainland. Never mind the coming together you see on Television. Nigeria is getting better wether we believe it or not. I am convinced of this beyond all reasonable doubt. If you ask me to show a proof. I will refer you to NAIRALAND Yes, SEUN is a Yoruba man (at least that is what his name indicates) yet he has not stopped non-Yorubas from posting their views on this forum. Criticism of our corrupt leaders comes from people of different ethnic background. On Nairaland, nobody cares where you are from. You get treated base on what you present. If you say something intelligent, people commends you. If you sound stupid, someone will surely bluntly tell you that you're stupid. Your name "Shehu, Ikenna, Adokiye, Bola etc" is no license for misbehaviour. You will be surprise that instead of being supported by people from your tribe, you will receive the greatest attack from them. So, I rest my case here. Let us get GREED and LAWLESSNESS out of Nigeria. Then we will have a country we all will be proud of. We've started already on this forum. Let us keep up the good work. You might think that what we discuss in this forum ends here. That is not so. For each viewer of the thread you write, at least 2 other people are likely to hear about your idea. So let us keep on POSTING on NAIRALAND, very soon, someone somewhere sometime will be in a position to make use of the ideas to better the lot of the masses. I strongly believe that NAIRALAND will play a good role in producing the next generation of LEADERS with VISION for Nigeria LONG LIVE NIGERIA!!! N.B - I'm sorry for the long post. But I just felt like pouring out my heart. No offense intended. But I mean every word I wrote.

Scribe: you captured my sentiments in so many words. The major group to go aginst Obasanjo presidency in 1999 was the SW group of Yoruba. Nigeria breaking up will not solve any wars, but only fractionalize the scamishes into little wars spread across the entire facade of the federation. You will find one ijebu town warring against their neighbors for one excuse or the other. Also, I was abused when I wrote that Nigeria's thieves cut across evry tribal persuasion in the country, be they Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw, Calaba, ect. WE have sons and daughters who have had the chance to work for their people and land to make things better, instead they had joined the band wagon of kleptocrats to further sink Nigeria into a qigmire of poverty and decay by their wanton acts of thievery. The arguement is since people from SS ans SE had never been the de facto ruler, they have no culpability in the ruination of Nigeria. Such bunk as explanation to exornorate people who may not be the head but non the less part of the governing body is nothing short tribalism and very naive. anyone no matter how little apart he/she plays in government, has a chance to effect aand affect the lives of his/her people for the better. Nigeria's problem is bad leadership and it cuts across every tribe in the nation.

Ethnocentric loud mouth gentleman, you never included the Yoruba's in your ranting, if your write up was balanced, I wont be having a go at you. Scribe: you captured my sentiments in so many words. Nigeria breaking up will not solve any wars, but only fractionalize the scamishes into little wars spread across the entire facade of the federation. You will find one ijebu town warring against their neighbors for one excuse or the other. Also This is a typical issue of trying to bedaub an argument and at the same time trying to over exaggerate a situation by painting unrealistic pictures of thing that does not and would not exist, I guess during the June 12 saga, Nigeria sucked to people like you but all of sudden is all good and there is a sudden urge to keep it at all cost, a classical example of ethnic political opportunism, save us all the predictions of what is going to happen if Nigeria breaks up and concentrate on what is going to be done to make things go round and prevent an imminent break up, and that would not include your accusation of SS and the SE, cause it would only surmount to adding insult to an injury, and a pointless promotion of a deliberate mendacious view to exacerbate an already bad situation, what is that for?. , I was abused when I wrote that Nigeria's thieves cut across evry tribal persuasion in the country, be they Igbo, Yoruba, Ijaw, Calaba, ect. WE have sons and daughters who have had the chance to work for their people and land to make things better, instead they had joined the band wagon of kleptocrats to further sink Nigeria into a qigmire of poverty and decay by their wanton acts of thievery. The fact that you are trying to transmute by altering your views, shows you' ve realized how nonsensical your views came across, if you have any idea of what chain of command is and how it works, you would not be sounding so naive, and that would help you in coming up with a puissant argument next time. The arguement is since people from SS ans SE had never been the de facto ruler, they have no culpability in the ruination of Nigeria. Such bunk as explanation to exornorate people who may not be the head but non the less part of the governing body is nothing short tribalism and very naive. If this your argument is any credible, then what is all the fuss about June 12, has the Yoruba's not been part of the governing body before then, your post reeks of a disproportionate level of selfishness and esurience, if being the de facto ruler is so inconsequential then why bother about June 12. anyone no matter how little apart he/she plays in government, has a chance to effect aand affect the lives of his/her people for the better. Nigeria's problem is bad leadership and it cuts across every tribe in the nation.
Learn about chain of command, and draw your conclusions when leadership has gone around

9to5 If I am not mistaken you are Igbo ans has a problem with Yoruba people. Too bad you can't see beyond your tribalism and that Biafran nonsense. I did not include yoruba in my list because obviously, Yoruba have always been in the center and therefore in the thick of events. June 12 is not a Yoruba thing but a Nigerian thing in which injustice was perpetrated. I clearly did not see it as against the Yoruba as i was not in living in Nigeria. A faction of Yoruba people may have siezed on it to make it a disenfrachisement of the Yoruba because of their self-centered agenda. Yoruba people never felt disenfranchised as we were always very advanced, setting the pace and was the nerve center of Nigeria. It was Hausa/Fulani in their paranoia of being outdone by the Yoruba, who turned the Republic into a central federal unit where power was concentrated in one sector. If you tried to understand what I tried to expantiate on, instead of believing you have all the answers, you would have seen that I have not excluded the Yoruba from the wanton looting of Nigeria as is very evident right now. Obasanjo in my estimation is undoubtedly the worst leader Nigeria ever had. Get a life kid.

Bankole01 9to5 If I am not mistaken you are Igbo ans has a problem with Yoruba people. Too bad you can't see beyond your tribalism and that Biafran nonsense. Why would my expozing how noisome your thought process and your views come across, not be misconstrued as having some thing against the Yoruba's, for some body with such a low cogitative prowess. I did not include yoruba in my list because obviously, Yoruba have always been in the center and therefore in the thick of events. June 12 is not a Yoruba thing but a Nigerian thing in which injustice was perpetrated. Yada yada blah blah, the injustice of June 12 is not a Yoruba thing but a Nigerian thing, innit?, and why is it that you don't see the injustice perpetrated against the SS and SE as a Nigerian thing parri passu, but you conveniently chose to see it as a problem the SS and the SE should solve by themselves, what a double standard whimsical fellow you turned out to be. I clearly did not see it as against the Yoruba as i was not in living in Nigeria. A faction of Yoruba people may have siezed on it to make it a disenfrachisement of the Yoruba because of their self-centered agenda. And how does this disprove a case I presented, put on your thinking hat dude. Yoruba people never felt disenfranchised as we were always very advanced, Keep living in your ethnocentric dream land, when you will ever have the chance of traveling to the south East and found out that the south East is light years ahead of any part of Nigeria in terms of development, thanks to personal struggles, not withstand their absence in the Government, then you will surely shout in your native tongue like the former Nigerian president Shehu Shagari did when he visited the South East, for now dream on is good for your decayed ethnocentric mind. If you tried to understand what I tried to expantiate on, instead of believing you have all the answers, you would have seen that I have not excluded the Yoruba from the wanton looting of Nigeria as is very evident right now. You will be more a man, if you accept that my ideas makes a lot of sense, a rather watered down crabwise dribling is not acceptable Obasanjo in my estimation is undoubtedly the worst leader Nigeria ever had. Get a life kid.
This is a baseless statement, he is just a continuation of the usuall circle of failure entrenched in Nigerian politics, caused by tribal political opportunism, like you apparently has displayed countless times here, if you think you are trying to impress me try harder.

I don't write in big outlandish english which noone understands nor have the time to look up. So listen up you dumb boob: I don't like Obasanjo nor ever like or supported him just like a lot of Yoruba people. My statement that he is the worst leader ever to misrule Nigeria, is a statement shared by many Nigerians. Your dumb statement about chain of command don't hold water in the kleptocratic dispensation which is Nigeria. They simply chopped whatever is appropriated for their respective States and these people include sons and daughters of SE and SS. More individuals in SS served as petroluem ministers and are today multi-billioneers. Are and were they not part of the problem? Most SE governors today underperformed and simply looted their respective States coffers. Are they not part of the ruling class and therefore culpable? Simply crawl in your Biafran hole and die you fool! Your stupid bigoted "Yoruba don't like Igbo mind" is so poluted, it is hard for you to comprehend that had Obafemi Awolowo which most Yoruba identify with, had the opportunity to rule Nigeria, it would have been a better and much advanced country today. Get your massob mind out of your rear end and believe this. You are a moron. You mean nothing to me or anyone else.

I have taken time to go through postings here and I wonder how the division of Nigeria will be done. Will it based on geopolitical zones, tribe or what? It still falls within the realms of conjecture.Until we realise that the country has come to stay, the better for us. And the argument that the north is poor is simply because of the perception before our eyes.Personally, anytime I look at the north,I see the country's food basket, which will be the basis of survival as the population keeps going up and oil reserves gets used up.

Dividing will not solve all of our problems but, it will solve the problems of tribal killings (especially in the north). If all these tribal killings in the North in the name of religion is the only thing achieved with the division I think it's worth it. Nigeria is not too big to be one but, the hatred among the tribes that make up the countries is too much to be handled. But the question is, is the division/dissolution is achievable?

After going through all the posts i have to conclude that Breaking up is not the remedy for a new and one Nigeria. We must become the change we want to see. It actually begins with the individual, then the family, and then the community. We have to deal with our own individual flaws first and in so doing improve our perception of society's problems and our ability to solve them. It all must begin with the individual. Nation building is largely a grass roots process and not a top-bottom engineering of the society. A One Nigeria can only be attained when public spiritedness and community values overthrow the self-centred individualism that denominates our socio-political life.
The revolution we need isn't one of mindless violence but one that will replace tribalism, commercialization of conscience and selfish individualism with the ethos of individual and moral responsibility and community consciousness. Of course, anger has its uses. We should certainly be angry with ourselves for what we have allowed to happen to us and to our country. But we should also allow that anger fuel a determination to sculpt a better future with the clay of new ideas.
