Price: Ranging from the "Night Surfer" CDMA package at 4,500 per month for night browsing to the "All Time Surfer" EVDO service at 600kbps for 22,000 naira for round the clock browsing.

It sounds promising, but the download speed of the CDMA service is reportedly up to 10 kilobytes per sec, which is jus slightly better Multilinks, but one user reports that the browsing speed feels much faster than Multilinks.

Virtually every internet is ok when its first launched in nigeria. Imagine using free internet in the United states with a capacity that can carry up to 5-7 computers in a nigerian cybercafe. What a world we are living in nigeria.

Visafone Internet, umh well to be sincere, I was using that of a friend before so I decided to get mine because of the speed then, The speed was superb so I got their AirCard for 12k and paid for the day surfer (8am - 9pm). At first the speed was okay but later I started getting 1x service instead of Evdo service.  I took the AirCard to another friend's place to confirm what the problem is as in maybe its due to my location. It worked really fine there. So the bottom line is their service is very active if you are in Evdo service area but if the reverse is the case, Oyo lo wa
I was using my own AirCard on my desktop computer with the help of a CardBus Adapter. I decided to go for the AirCard instead of the USB modem because of the USB modem is quite expensive, it goes for 25k. I want to sell mine because I'm not in their Evdo service area.

Visa phone ko, master card ni, i use starcomms 1x cdma and it browses at 6k per second. At night, it changes to 9 kb per second. Do you know what you can do with all that precious time it takes to open 1 page? You can boil beans, watch 2 episodes of second chance and probably escort your friend down the street. Nobody does it better than starcomm, lol

The reason why you guys think RELTEL is the best now is because there are not much people on the network. Just wait for people to start migrating there, then you will know its the worse of all networks. I once used RELTEL and i got mad one morning and sank the phone inside a sink. Its because there are no traffic on the network thats why. Starcomms still rules for now even if they have their own bad side, but its widely use and a little effective, don't know about Visafone.  I would love to know more about them if they are effective, but from what am seeing now, the cost is too enormous.

I have been using Visafone since they were known as Bourdex Telecoms but I am thinking of migrating to another network. Reason? forget about all those SHAKARA and BOASTING they have been making in their adverts, no change at all. All those claims are bogus and unattainable for now unless in the future since Jim Ovia's Zeneith Bank bought them over. I have always been on 24/7 and what I get as service is to say the least very disappointing. I subscribe for one full month and get logged on for 23days without any explanation. Their customer service is very poor. You pay for updating today and you wait for days to be logged on, no explanation offered whatsoever. Their speed is very slow and most of the time you get logged off and maybe you will not be reconnected for hours, no explanation offered at all. The only thing I know for now that is good about them is their coverage compared to some other networks. they cover the whole South East, South- South, maybe recently Lagos, Kaduna and Abuja. If you are into forex Trading, Studying, Video Conferencing, please do not use them for now untill perharps after their reorganisation

You are so right. I've used starcomms evdo for over a year now. Up till the beginning of the year, it was ok. Now all of a sudden, you can actually cook, eat, sleep and wake up before a page opens. I have resorted to waking up in the early hours like 3am in order to get any decent work done on the net. Promises, promises they all make, all we pay for is shakara.

I subscribed to the Visaphone internet about a month ago and i have had a terrible experience. I live on the outskirt of Ikorodu, so my choice was highly limited and i wanted a broadband service. Starcomms signals are strong here but their evdo service does not reach here.

There are problems with visaphone, too numerous to mention, but here are a few.
The broadband (evdo) service is non existent, most of the time it is the 1x service that is on, once the evdo lights up, you download stops until it changes back to 1x. It seems they are still test running the evdo. I Thought that it was because of my remote location that made evdo service impossible, so i took my laptop to their saka tinubu office to try it out. Still i could not find evdo service, Although the 1X was faster as the signals were full, also i met a lot of people with the same complaint. To me it is daylight robbery for someone to pay for broadband and get dial up.

Also their signal can go off any minute, in fact where i am, the signals fluctuates so wildly, that you have to log in again due to service disconnection.

The most annoying one is even if you have full signals, the service would enter dormant mode and until it leaves the dormant mode you download will be suspended.

Then the customer care is non existent, since i do not have a visaphone line, when i tried with my MTN line, i was told my waiting time would be 36mins, i immediately cut the line and resign to fate.

The verdict is if you do not intent to do any serious work beyond sending email and chatting, then you can manage visaphone, but if you intend to do serious work then visaphone is a no-no.

Finally, the state of service delivery in Nigeria is getting from bad to worse, be it internet, Light, transport, water, everything. we pay exorbitant prices for mediocre services.

did anyone say broadband in nigeria,

there is no broadband in nigeria, unless someone buys NITEL and maximizes its potential before we can have broad band,

we still rely on wireless when there is FTTH service in some parts of the world,

unless our country changes before we can move forward, some people just like to amass wealth for themselves, as someone rightly put, GREEED!!

thats the cause of our poor internet service in our country,

has anyone tried Thuraya DSL, its good,
