Help! My Dvd Rom Refuses To Play Dvd

I Borrowed a friend of mine my DVD RW from my system he was the one that pulled it out, so I don't really know how he did it because I wasn't there when he pulled it out. What I do know is that when I collected it back from him and fix it inside my system, the system refuses to recognise the DVD RW ROM after some effort it now recognises it as DVD RW RAM instead and it also refuses to play DVD plates. I have tried my best but could not get it back to normal. I need help
