Please tell me what kind of operating system you are use? Which one you use laptop or desktop computer?

Have you been download WINDOWS UPGRADE to detect all hardware drivers that might be missing or corrupted? What about using GOOGLE.COM finding your sound problem searching?

By the way there are existing threads you might find the following links below:

Is your sound driver DISABLED? If you do not know if your sound driver DISABLED, then check on clicking below:

1.) START BUTTON

2.) CONTROL PANEL

3.) SYSTEM icon

4.) HARDWARE TAB to select DEVICE MANAGER, wait it prompt opening new windows

5.) Scroll down you will see to click '+' SOUND, VIDEO, and GAME CONTROLLER

6.) If you have YELLOW EXCLAMATION MARK on SOUND, VIDEO and GAME CONTROLLER section (AC'97 Audio).

It means you have MISSING SOUND DRIVER, that you need to download Windows XP AC'97 audio driver. (sound driver).
