Has Nigeria Got Any Black-white People ("mulattas"/"mulattos")?
« on: May 18, 2006, 03:09 PM »

It has entered my mind every one and then because if Nigeria had any mixed people where are they in showbizz, economics, on the Nigerian art scence etc.? In Portuguese or French speaking Africa you see them more in the public arena . Are they all living abroad?

PS: By the way, who knows if Tyra Banks and Beyonce are mixed ("mulattas" )? Beyonce always says tha she is an Africa American  but her mother is white. Who can bring light into that?

Ramsey Noah, where does his father or mother come from? Is the father or the mother British? I know that Lilan Bach´s father is German, I like it when some Nigerian mulattos and mulattas appear on screen,  it shows that Nigeria is a tolerant country. Grin

Yes, Nigeria has a lot of Mixed people, but regardless of how mixed-up you are, the black genes still outshine and make mixed-peeps really unique.

@skidoc
I think Ben Murray B is full Nigeria o, its just that hes light in complexion

I think she's actually "Creole" from Louisiana. She seems to be a mix of black and white(French). At this point it is virtually impossible to say she's one or the other.

@Topic

In the States that woman is all Black. In Nigeria people would call her Mixed. Mrs Knowles is a sista period. There are friends of mine who look white and the are 20th generation Black. In the US  the "Race Chart" is different.

Old Glory those are true words about the north American system of racial classification.  If a person's hair is even slightly kinky or chemically straightened they are classified as FULL BLACK in the US, no matter how light that persons skin happens to be or even if they have blue or green eyes.

That careful and immediate racial classification is made in the mind of every American to quickly define others by "species" and thus form snap judgments on who to trust, communicate with or avoid in daily life.

Beyounce's mom is Black. Mixed race if you like.

But legally Black. Since there is no such thing as Mixed.

To put it most simply, Mrs. Knowles is an African-American, though a bit mixed like many AA's are. I have several folks in my family who have that very mixed look,  though are generations displaced from the white and Native ancestors that contributed to that look.

Now if you want to doubt her blackness, take a look at this article I found:

Quote
MUM BEAT BRATTY BEYONCE

Also see:
BEYONCE KNOWLES

BEYONCE KNOWLES' insists she will never be a diva because her mother beat her when she behaved badly as a rising star.

The DESTINY'S CHILD star admits her mum TINA has only ever hit her once - and that' was the last time she acted like a brat.

She recalls, "I was 15 and we had a single, NO, NO, NO, and it went to number one and I thought I was grown up.

"I was singing in a record store, ignoring her when she was talking to me. I was being defiant and she slapped me in my face, which she's never done in her life.

"She said, 'You better listen to me when I talk to you. Don't think that you can do that now that you have a number one single.'

"I was so embarrassed and shocked because I'd never got a spanking before but that was the best thing she ever did because from that moment I was starting to get that little diva thing.

"From that moment on I never went there and it put me in my place before it started."

*What a nonsense topicyawn*

Well I see Hero ended with the Beyonce's mom controversy w/ style. Kiss for you! Kiss

Now Constantin, don't you know that the term mulatta/mulatto is derogatory? Angry Shessh! How many times do people got to say it already? If you want to know something, ask politely.

And I can't see the merit behind your question! Are you suggesting that b/c a person isn't playing Mr. Bo Jangles he/she does not exist. B/c a person does not wear a "Mulatto" banner he/she is not whatever he/she is? Why don't we make the Jews strap that festive star back on while we're at it! And, while I'm having ideas, let's make the Gypsies and Commies join em, eh?

I guess if you aren't in show biz or the limelight, you don't exist to people, huh? I learn something new everyday.

*What am I still doing on this thread?*

Constantin,

I just noticed your post.

Ashanti is not a Mulatto.

A mulatto usually indicates somebody who is half and half.

Ashanti is 75 percent Black/25 percent Chinese.

Her father was Mulatto.

I think the negativity of the term Mulatto depends on who you are talking to.

Some are offended by it.
Some embrace it.
Some don't care one way or an other as long as it means Black.

Which of course in America, Mulatto just means Black person.

It is easy to find historical writings about Mulatto Negress.

A Mulatto Black male. Etc.

The word indicating your skin color but not changing the fact that you are Black.

But Drusilla, those are "historical". I think the word is only acceptable among Spanish speakers b/c in English there are so many other suitable options! I don't think I could take someone seriously if they referred to him/herself that way.

But I will stop my soap boxing for now. Let them eat cake. . .

Saying someone is Latino has no meaning in deciding their race.

Just like saying someone is American would not tell you their race.

IS VERY INTERESTING THAT YOU GUYS IN NIGERIA DON'T GET THE BIG PICTURE, YOU DON'T KNOW A DAMN THING ABOUT THE WHITE PEOPLE AND THERE MIND SET ''BEOUNCE'' IS AS BLACK AS THE DARKEST BLACK PERSON YOU 'VE EVER SEEN, AND SO IS HER MOTHER. AM AN IBO GUY [ MY SKIN IS FAIR ], AND MY WIFE IS WHITE, SO IN THESE SENSE MY SON IS VERY LIGHT SKIN, HE IS AS BLACK AS ANY AFRICAN TO ME. IF SEND MY SON TO THE EASTERN EUROPE FOR EXAMPLE, A PLACE LIKE RUSSIA [ GOD FORBID ], THEY WOULD ATTACK HISS ASS JUST LIKE THEY WOULD ATTACK YOUR ASS. MY WIFE KNOWS IT THATS WHY SHE CANT STAND WHITE PEOPLE.

RECENTLY A 9 YEARS OLD MIXED RACE GIRL [ MULATTO ] WAS ATTACKED AND STABBED THREE TIMES ONLY FOR BEING BLACK [ THE WHITE REFER TO THEM AS BLACKS ]  THE ONLY THING PROTECTING BLACK PEOPLE IN THE WEST IS THE LAW, AND NOTHING BUT THE LAW, TAKE THE LAW AWAY, THEY WOULD ATTACK YOUR ASS STRAIGHT UP.,
