hmmmm I promised I wasn't going to post on this forum anymore but someone drew my attention to this thread and I am amazed at the things I have been reading and level of ignorance amongst my fellow Nigerians eh.
Una just dey run ya mouth any how for here abi. Okay just take time and read these words of advice from an elder then go say your prayers cause I am releasing my sisters on you all.....
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Although you cannot pick her out on the street, her image looms too large in the national consciousness especially when it comes to the affairs of the heart. In Nigeria, no story about love, sex and the good life would be complete without her.
She is a young girl or women from Nigeria's South East. Specifically, she is Efik, one of three ethnic groups of Calabar town, the capital of Nigeria's Cross River State. But she is better known, addressed and often abused as the CALABAR WOMAN.
The Calabar Woman is a subject of fame and notoriety, love and envy depending on which sex is assessing her. To most Nigerian men, the ''Calabar'' woman is an enchanting woman who knows how to handle and give pleasure to men. Men hold her in awe and salute her ability to make a man relax.
To some Nigerian women however, the calabar woman is a vile enchantress, a ferocious virago, a notorious mansnatcher, a cunning and most vicious woman who seeks to reap where she did not sow. She is described in negative terms by most women. She is a cold-blooded female jackal always on the prowl for male preys. The more handsome, rich and powerful the man, the fiercer her resolve to get him into her clutches.
While many men pray to meet and share the joys of her alleged good company, many women fear and dread the calabar woman. Stories abound about her. Many women alleged that she uses fair and foul means (more foul than fair) to get men.
Stories also told of parents whose bachelor sons are to take up a job in calabar who discreetly persuade their young men to marry from home before leaving for calabar. They fear that their sons may marry the enchantress who could make them forget their folks back home. Surprisingly enough, a good number of outsiders who are resident in calabar and are married to calabar women hardly ever go back to their homes. They make calabar their home. Afterall, home is supposed to be where your heart is.
Such is the reputation of the calabar woman. loved, feared and dreaded. Parents loathe her. Her own sex dread her and those of them in competition with her for a man's attention curse the day she was born. But hate her, love her or envy her, she remains an enduring part of the national folklore. Above all, her allure has remained steady. What is in her that men love so much and women hate so intensely?
It was the late Malcome X who wisely counselled that ." any time you find someone more successful than you are, especially when you are both engaged in the same business you know they are doing something that you aren't". The calaber woman may not be as beautiful as Helen of Troy nor as polite as an air hostess but she sure knows what men want first and foremost: attention and a genuine attempt to mother them.
Forget the bravado men try to put on. Men are tough human beings with soft, tender hearts. Deeply implanted in every man's heart is the desire to be pampered, adored and mothered. Every man, be he a president, army general, editor, corporate chief executive officer - needs to be worshipped and doted on. As caretakers of the earth, men exert themselves too much in the service of women and children. In return, they expect obedience from children, love, care and worship from their wives. When a man gets home from a tiring day's job, he does not want to wrangle with a woman who is out to show her class and sophistication. He wants to meet a lady who can help him relax, and this is one area the calabar woman excels in. Be her a seconday school teenager or an adult she understands people. This is one reason why the calabar woman always wins.
Part of the myth is that even from childhood, she is trained to care for a man. Madam Arit Ekpenyong, an Efik matriarch who has two very pretty daughters thinks it is true. According to her, Efik mothers teach their daughters how to become successful mothers and wives. They are taught how to pet men, cook appetising food, and look attractive.
If you are a woman and in competition with a calabar woman for a man you like so much, remember to note the following: * Your rival knows how to take care of her body. * The road to a man's heart may be his stomach. But does man live by food alone? * Be an excellent cook. * Above all, know how to pet a man.
GO YE THEREFORE INTO THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Make una allow me rest after this o!. I don comot go find 404 whey I go chop.

This is indeed a very unwelcome thread. How could you pick on a people and say such derogatory compliments about them? Please such precedence set about abusing where people come from and their way of life should not be encouraged here. Next will be yoruba, ibo , hausa, fulani, urhobo etcetera till we end up with religion and then the forum will explode.

There have been even religious disagreements and the forum is yet to explode. We have a moderator working full-time here . If the moderator(s) thought that Calabar men and women would find this thread offensive, it wouldn't have been allowed.

well, its true oooo!!!My father is Igbo, mummy is a Calabar woman,I grew up in Calabar and Calabar women pet their husbands while they are eating-don't ask me how....My mummy taught me too how to take good care of a man and a home, its an innate thing among Calabar women, they always teach their daughters how to do all that from a very tender age so that it will come naturally to you when the need arises.Well, she taught me from age 9.......
