Gani Is Doing Well And Will Be Back Soon
« on: May 05, 2008, 04:59 PM »

Contrary to the rumour making the rounds that human rights activist, Chief Gani Fawehimi, SAN, was dead, P.M.News can authoritatively confirm that the Lagos lawyer is still alive.

Chief Fawehimi who recently marked his 70th birthday is still recuperating at a London hospital after a cancer surgery.

Chief Fawehimi who spoke to P.M. News from his hospital bed this morning, said he was getting better and that he would return to the country soon.

“I am still alive. I am not dead. I am recovering slowly, my health is improving. Please help me tell Nigerians that I am still alive,” he said.

Gani’s ill-health which had seen him being treated in the London hospital for more than eight months now has been a source of concern to many Nigerians who missed his insightful criticisms of bad government policies and dogged stand on public issues.

One of his children recently came out to say that he had been diagnosed as having cancer.

Another human rights activist confided in P.M.News that the spread of the cancer had been controlled by specialists treating him at the London hospital.

“Gani is alive, don’t mind them. I spoke with him just now and he is still recuperating. I don’t know why some people are spreading rumours all over the place. It is a rumour, it is not true,” the activist who sought anonymity told P.M.News. this moirning.

I have to open another thread on this topic because I don't fancy the idea of pulling that 'death' thread when we all know that Chief Fawehimi is not dead after all. This is my submission, when you broadcast the death people like this you are wishing them a longer life remember the case of Great Zik. I pray he recovers quickly and come back to the country he laboured for.   I see him living long like Zik.

There is a lesson here because like a cat with nine lives Gani will pull through in Jesus name.
God will heal him!

Thanks lucabrasi, but with a few more people like you GOOD WILL OVERCOME EVIL. I've decided that not minding the number I will pull this thread until the other thread is forgotten.

Gani alive, still in London, say associates
« #5 on: May 06, 2008, 11:20 AM »

The legal firm of Chief Gani Fawehinmi (SAN) has described as absolute falsehood the news report that the nation’s foremost human rights crusader had died. According to a statement signed by a senior member of the Chamber, Barrister Adindu Ugwuzor, the news carried by a private television station, Africa Independent Television (AIT), is baseless and patent falsehood as Fawehinmi is alive in London, where he is receiving medical treatment.

Prior to the statement, Daily Sun had investigated the report and spoken with the fiery lawyer on phone in London, during which he expressed hope to return to the country soon.

The two-page statement reads in part: “We dispel that news and state that it is absolute falsehood. We confirm most categorically that Chief Gani Fawehinmi SAN is alive and still in London where he is receiving medical treatment.
“We are surprised, shocked and embarrassed that a national television like the Africa Independent Television (AIT) could carry such a sensitive news without confirming from any member of the Gani Fawehinmi Chambers or any member of his family.

“For the umpteenth time, we reiterate that Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN is alive and that whoever is spreading that satanic rumour should desist from such mischief, as it is ungodly.
“Recently, so many people had visited Chief Gani Fawehinmi, SAN in his house in London where he is convalescing. And we doubt if there is any media house in Nigeria that does not have Chief Gani Fawehinmi’s telephone number in London, including the AIT where Chief Gani Fawehinmi was called and he spoke on that same programme live on Tuesday, 22nd April, 2008.”

Fawehinmi’s 70th birthday was recently celebrated with funfare by friends, associates and the entire human rights community in the country.
The climax of the birthday anniversary was held on April 22, 2008 at the Airport Hotel Ikeja, where Gani spoke live to the gathering from London.

GUYS,
Great Gani (SAM) will soon be back to Nigeria Insha Allah in good health. with situations in the country Gani will leave long to see us through as it will be too early for him to leave us. his effective participation over Nigeria affair earned him great respect from well meaning Nigerians. we love you and we will keep loving you. all the people that are putting this nation into mess are still alive and no way to go now, you will see the end of every one of them while you will be alive gaining (as your name similarly pronounced)a reward for your good work in our nation.

One does not have to be a smoker to get lung cancer. There is what is called second-hand smoke i.e. anyone near a smoker is susceptible to the disease just as the smoker. There is also industrial polution in Nigeria and the air around Lagos is bad with smug hanging in the air 24/7. It's even a surprise that there are not many more cases of lung cancer and asthma or other related diseases. To infer that Gani's illness is man-made or the FG should investigate same is ridiculous.

there might actually be many cases of cancer and disease related to smoke/pollution
but considering the fact that Gani himself and many more people are constantly misdiagnosed
in the country; the disease goes untreated or patience gets treated for something else entirely
