Who remembers having some rich relatives coming to your house and you hanging around so they could give you a few naira notes when they were about leaving? Your parents would make sure that you hung around no matter what you know, strategically speaking, lol

Or did the cane in your house ever develop wings multiple times and henceforth the parents used an alternative method for whacking you

Who remembers watching Sesame Street? I saw the 1980-1985 opening themes on YouTubes and i was overwhelmed,

If you went to boarding house, can you remember the feeling that enveloped you as you got into the car to leave for school? Mehn, i never wanted those holidays to end.

Or do you remember putting pencil under a classmate's yansh in school just for the fun of it (Once a classmate actually sat on the pencil and my, it was a disaster!)

How about your first toasting runs? I used to send tonnes of letters to those girls in those days, and when thry replied, they would even put lipstick on them! Nowadays i doubt if the growing ones can even compose a love letter!

Do yo remember VIP? And the funny carton it used to come in?

You can't imagine that sometimes memories from as far back as Nursery school still sit in my head. For example, i always imagine everytime i see my mates or their friends whether they used to poo-poo in their pants in nursery school! I had this friend back then who was a fine boi but could just never stop pooping! He he,  So each time i just see all these fine bois and gals these days, i just wonder, did dey poop in their pants in school? cruel, he he.

Quote
i like the way people say stuff like

Bolanle abi what do you call yourself
chukwuemeka or what did you call yourself
babayaro or what is that your name

even though they know your name well well!!
even on nairaland when you can see the person's username

This is classic -I almost fell off my chair at work laughing  Grin

One of my dad's friend who knew everyone's name in my household when his brother became a governor then all off a sudden when he comes by uses those exact words - "Bolanle abi what do you call yourself" and also if u go to beer parlours people still do it up till today :-) It happens mostly when people get some money in naija

Do you also remember removing your pure white socks in the morning when you got to school so that it will remain pure white when you wore it at closing time and then your househelp will think you're the cleanest person ever? Cos she/he won't need to wash your socks for that day?

Do you remember when that your black and white TV had to be turned around because there was no remote to flick through d channels and when your pop would turn you into an alternate antennae just to watch Newsweek and NTA News at 9pm. They made you stand there holding the antennae for human current? lololol

Do you also remember, I will konk ya head? Mehn, i like reelin with laffta here o jare,

Remember visiting the village where my granny would stuff me with bush meat, piping hot ofada rice with stew served on leaves with lots of palm wine. Then I'll help myself to roasted corn, kernel, sour garri, breadfruit, plantain, yam, cocoa, agbalumo (cherry), oranges
resulting to INDIGESTION! Pa would make me drink this HORRIBLE leafy concotion!

Then visit relatives even without informing them! I love to invite people to join me as I eat - there's a happiness from sharing. And oh!
Even friends dropping by during exam periods where we read read READ till we LEAN! Only to arrive home : and folk would exclaim and stuff you to THEIR satisfaction!

Family, friends, certain parts of the culture, the weather. I mean, the qualities are innumerable. If two friendly Nigerians meet each other, even if their background is different, there is always that similiarity and connection. I don't know how to explain it, but simply put it, I will always remain a Nigerian at heart. Riding tires, bathing outside in the rain, family members visiting, life in the village.
