Toyota Vs Honda
« on: May 06, 2008, 01:17 PM »

i think its time for the two japanese giants to battle it out for ultimate supremacy
post your views on which one you think is better and why.
I have never used a honda before so my biased opinion will say Toyota (but thats just me)
but i want you all to post what you feel and why.
may the battle begin.

toyota and honda make strong lasting engine. but honda adds more to the flavor (style). and honda cars are more gas economy. so i think my choice would be honda.

toyotas have better fuel economy than honda, quote me

i have driven both brands and brand new ones for that matter , still toyota is d winner in fuel section, one reason is that hondas have more hp than toyo, that extra 2hp can mean some more fuel. so if on d web, around d web and underneath d web, toyota is d fuel champion over honda. u need to have the two to compare, and don't rely on yur friends car, buy d two brand new and test drive Tongue Tongue Tongue :Pif u can sha. e  no easy Grin Grin Grin

The two car manufacturers have two different strategies; Toyota makes practical cars, good fuel economy, take you from point A to B. Honda concentrates on driver comfort and thats enough to win my heart. Whats fuel economy when you can't get ultimate comfort, for Honda the driver is king

this battle is really going to be tough.
i jsut compared the 08 civic to the 08 corolla and MEN!!!
i think the civic SI totally kills the corolla XRS(in looks tho)
but i am still for toyota when it comes to the camry XLE vs the accord EX-L
besides, toyota cars are unkillable.

i think u should check out this site before u say toyota is better in fuel economy. www.fueleconomy.gov

bros i have also driven both brands and i think the race is too close
most Hondas have aluminium block Engines which are lighter therefore less weight, that also makes it fuel efficient. the light weight gives tthe car rapid acceleration and speed (power to weight ratio advantage).

Toyota have better handling and a better suspension. also a longer lasting shock (compared to honda)
honda engines are aluminum and aluminum has a large Volume expansitivity so a little over heating and u will be working on your engine.
if u live in abuja i don't think u will have  a shock problem very often. and if u have a working temperature gauge u wont let your car over heat. would u?

If u compare the looks of honda accorda to toyota camrys,  Civics to corrollas, you will see honda look better
for example baby boy and 1998 camry, 2002 civic and 2002 corrolla, bulldog/bullet and 1994 -1997camry,2005 civic and 2005 corrolla,  and the best coparisim END OF DISSCUSSION and 2004 Camry( what were the camry design team thinking when they designed that UGLY CAR Huh Huh)

i don't think there is any corrolla that has finner looks than any civic (of the same year)
please if u  know  any tell me

i think we should all END THIS DISSCUSSION and agree that HONDAS are better than toyotas
thank u  and END OF DISSCUSSION

@icemann.,

i see u love yur honda, i don't normally attack people, but u want my attack so let me give u some, defend it wisely

u gave a site, for all benefits i did, compare side by side, i compared 2008 2.4ltr toyota camry to 2008 2.4 ltr honda accord

honda had total 24 miles on average and toyota had 25 miles on average.

now if you're looking properly, u will see that honda got there own from = Average based on 18 vehicle

and toyota=Average based on 6 vehicles.

i beleive mathematics will say that if i increase that 6 to 18 i may get 24 miles on average or lower or even higher(so u don't look for a way),

what am saying in earnest is please, forget site, i am a nigerian, i am talking from practice, not fueleconomy.gov, ( AND BEFORE I SAY THIS MIND You, I DO NOT OWN ANY TOYOTA OR HONDA, BUT FROM VARIOUS FRIENDS, WHO HAVE UNDOUBTEDLY SAID THAT)  TOYOTA IS OGA WERE FUEL IS CONCERNED, HONDA IS MADAM

WHILE IN DESIGN, WE ALL KNOW THAT HONDA IS OGA ND TOYO MADAM, I DONT DISPUTE THAT.

SO PLS ONLY THOSE THAT R ALLOWED TO ANSA R UNBIASED MINDS LIKE ME Grin Grin Grin

TILL DATE TOYOTA IS D WINNER, I DONT EVEN KNOW WHY I AM HAILING TOYO, IN SHORT BUGGATI IS D WINNER Tongue Tongue Tongue

I have a toyota  and 2 Hondas (Bullet and CRV) Take the CRV out as it is 2.4ltr engine but my bullet and Avensis is 2.0 . Brother, Toyota has better fuel economy while Honda has more dashboard "effizy", safety gadgets and more acceleration.

Have you guys forgotten VW? Super fuel economy too.

Before i agree wit u, what year is your bullet and your Avensis?
How long have u used both cars?
the newer car will be more fuel efficient.
i believe the Avensis is a more morden car  than the bullet, and morden cars are more fuel efficient, if u want to compare use cars of the same year.

More bells and whistles though but quality control is not as tough as Toyota's build.  A lot more money and research is put in ingenuity when configuring the engines.  I usually make references to valve head configuration and camshaft profiling.  If you truly understand the automotive vehicle from an engineering approach you'D find out the research and manufacturing process isn't something you toss to the birds.  The Camry's are DOHC's and Accords OHC's or SOHC's.  DOHC's aren't easy to engineer compared to OHC's.  Some Toyota models even went as high as quad base DOHC's or quadcams.  I really don't know how people make choices in car preferences but in my judgement, the engine is the highest priority followed by its transmission.  Toyota's structural and tolerance deformable analysis (the same in all Lexus models) in its vehicle build is far higher than any other japanese car on market today.  That is why its known as "Toyota Security."  You get more value for your money going Toyota.

Let's leave Lexus and Acura for now because u may acura a heart attack.\
TOYOTAs are the best in fuel economy.WHen honda engines get old, they consume more fuel and are money wasters even in maintenance and even when new,i don't think they consume less than camrys.
Concerning designs, honda's been killing toyota for years but in 2007, the revolution began.2007 camry is really finer than 2007 acccord, 2008 camry is finer than 2008 honda.Believe me,i have test driven the 4 and camry is just soooooooooo cool. As a matter of fact ,i prefer the 2006/2007 accord to the 2008 accord in terms of exterior. The 2008 looks like a deshaped spaceship.
Concerning Civics and Corolla, corolla designers are sick and civic designers are magnificient, digi speedometer and so on?just cool. the mostembarassing is the 2001 set of corolla and civis.can u imagine.
ANyway, im with toyota.No argument

Those of you comparing Toyota with Honda are way back in the 90's.  Toyota in today's engineering is on a class of its own and you see every ad/review make reference to Toyota.  They own the hybrid technology every one's trying to own and corporations pay dearly to have it integrated to their product line.  I am yet to find an ad that marks Honda as a milestone.  Honda doesn't have the marques as Toyota owns.  As my prof. once said, Toyota potrays true japanese innovation and other brand is just an imitation.  An imitation indeed and many of them are truly doing a bad job.  He is a redneck but not close minded as the average ones you encounter.  I'm not a fan of Toyota but appreciate true engineering when I discover one.  One thing Honda and Toyota have in common is dull designs and interiors.  Driving experience is souless as well.  I use to think the 02 design was ugly till 06 was lauched.  The good news is that better designs are coming in the future when the 55mpg bill is passed; forcing manufacturers to implement better aero design.
