i find it highly irritating when after not speaking to your girl friend in nigeria in a long while, they often ask u if your married. or they email or phone u to say they are getting married what is so freaking wonderful about marriage and why is it a do or die situation for nija girls? is mrs man more appealing than miss girl?

Because they watch soap opera, nollywood, and reading romance novels too much to have fantasy about marriage without sitting down to analyze and study their own partner's characteristics, habits, etc finding the compatible mate.
Also because most of young Nigerian girls are materistic type seeking for rich guys who has MONEY, MONEY, MONEY!!!

The men I've met so far are fine, except for one. The men I see on Nairaland and in Nigeria, Lord help our population from being branded as the ugliest in Africa, if we don't have the title yet As for their "privates", na you sabi.

It's not about loving marriage. i think it gets to a stage in life whereby the next thing to look up to is marriage. it's just a normal thing.

Lol, I have three younger sisters and when there's anything on TV regarding weddings they put on their whole concentration until its over. They look forward to their wedding day so much that it sometimes irritate me. But I can't help but think that they are girls and ladies and emotional beings. Like uspry1 said, they watch to much movies and being emotional creatures who allow their emotion to guard them in their every decision making, they are bound to be moved by what they see and what they hear, I really don't think its because of MONEY, if that is the reason, alot of girls will not get married but rather date as many men as posible to get money or become a 100 percent independent woman who is independent in all aspect of her life including emotional aspects thereby creating a standard too high for any man to cope with.

I don’t get the question?
Aren’t we supposed to like marriage?
Isn’t it the womanly thing to do?
From the moment we are born our purpose in life is to get married. Oh sure we go to schoolnursery school, primary school, secondary school, 4 years of undergrad, 2 years of graduate studies, Yes we get jobs afterwards but all of that are just diversionary activities until we achieve our ultimate goal in lifeto be married! And now you make it sound like it’s a bad thing. Sister Puh-leaze!
Whatever would we do without a man by our side? Oh dear! Thought just send a chill down my spine.
*Swooning*
A life without a man? I’d die I tell you, Die!
