Our So-called Leaders And A Bouquet Of Flowers!
« on: May 12, 2008, 11:06 PM »

Can someone tell me why our so-called elective leaders - President, Governors, Senators, Reps, Ministers, Local Govt. Chairmen and even their wives, as august visitors to any place or event in the country, are always met and welcomed by a little girl holding a bouquet of flowers. Is the presentation of flowers as a welcome part of our culture and tradition? I can understand flowers being presented to foreign visitors to the country - that is their culture. But do you think it's a good practice to welcome these people with flowers in our country?

I didn't think so. With us trying to revive our cultures and traditions, languages et al, and discarding the colonial influence.
