Problem With Dell C600 Touch Pad

Hey guys,
Has anyone of u with Dell C600 laptop tried using both his/her serial mouse alongside the touch pad?I did,but the cursur keeps sliding down to the taskbar!
Can i ever stop this from happening again?A friend of mine suggested hardware conflict, probably,but i'm sure one of u here has a contrary,or better suggestion.
