@sheniqua
More women and kids have lost their lives by staying with abusive women.Stop wasting your time telling us women should put a price on their and their kids physical wellbeing.
If they have a career, they should leave,if they don't,they should stay and receive their constant dose of beatings. What nonsense.

I'm in no way advocating an abused woman should stay I have a career I would leave. But it's not as easy for others as some of you may think. It's especially harder even in our societies where the only place she may be leaving to is to her parent's see me I see you and they may not even want her there
tboy's sister was living in the UK . . . if she's legal she can always leave and even get free benefits because of her son. What was she doing taking 6 years of beating for? I hear some women like to be beaten before sex . . . maybe its true.

Ok oh Osisi, I hear you so if I say more women get cheated on than men, it means men are more intelligent and the women are less so I hope you would agree. Androgenic hormones or not, being aggressive does not mean I will beat anybody. Most violence is done by men eh? Men also achieve more house building, wealth generation, scientific advances, medical breakthroughs, and poverty alleviation activities, more of everything (except maybe childbearing and cursing ) than women. What exactly is your point here? Ok is this acceptable: Women are predisposed to chasing rich men since rich men are likely to be more providing for offspring, regardless of whether they will be faithful or not. its because of the way they are wired. I'm not trying to belabour the point, but such generalizations are wrong - Aggression should not be mistaken with DRIVE or the need to 'achieve' or do something.

I was paraphrasing Sheniqua(this her Americana name sef) who talked about women not willing to leave because they had no financial independence. Unless you just want to pick a fight with me. . . I'm going to walk away from aggressive Ekiti women.

Well in my opinion if the girl gets to know her boyfriend really well, knows his friends, the friends tell her what he's like (and whether he has a temper) visits his family, notices that the guy is well behaved when with his family, i mean he dosen't lose his cool beats his juniors, or gets annoyed easily etc, then these should be signs that the guy is not a wife beater. HOPEFULLY.

@ D-R since Sheniqua has told us it is testosterone that causes everything, is it safe to conclude that Ekiti women - you and Cadet have excessive levels of testosterone? (maybe this is responsible for the copious facial hair on their women too ) I disagree . . . both of them are nice chics and have no facial hair.

Then again how do you explain that almost all acts of violence is carried out by men despite the fact that women outnumber men? simple answer needed please

you miss the point osisi - most actions period, are carried out by men (apart from bearing children for 9 months and cooking ogbono ) so picking ONE and saying it is caused by men doesn't really elucidate anything. Are you saying any woman who kills or beats someone up is as a result of testosterone? I think we should test D-R and Cadet to evaluate this hypothesis.

My main purpose is to say that many women are abused and sometimes killed by their abusers and it's not as simplistic as some make it out to be.

about 25-50% of women are physically abused at some point in their relationship. That is no little number. One or two out of every 4 woman that's reading this thread has been in that situation. If you know the solution @ debosky tell us.

The solution? Exercising better judgment in choosing a mate.
People are a product of their upbringing by and large, women contribute more than 50% to this as you've said, so women should teach their male children to respect women and vice versa.
Choose your partners carefully, bring your children up properly.
Be able to stand on your feet to avoid these 'financial dependence' issues as much as possible. Its not rocket science really. I have 4 sisters so I can say i know a little about this. Proper upbringing has instilled these values in my siblings. If my folks can do it, why can't others?

Does your partner:
hit, punch, slap, shove, or bite you?
threaten to hurt you or your children?
threaten to hurt friends or family members?
have sudden outbursts of anger or rage?
behave in an overprotective manner?
become jealous without reason?
prevent you from seeing family or friends?
prevent you from going where you want, when you want?
prevent you from working or attending school?
destroy personal property or sentimental items?
deny you access to family assets, such as bank accounts, credit cards, or even the car?
control all finances and force you to account for what you spend? force you to have sex against your will?
force you to engage in sexual acts you do not enjoy?
insult you or call you derogatory names?
use intimidation or manipulation to control you or your children?
humiliate you in front of your children?
turn minor incidents into major arguments?
abuse or threaten to abuse pets?
The author of No Visible Wounds, Mary Susan Miller, adds one more: withhold conversation, sex, or affection from you?
any man that does any of the above is an abuser and should seek help Any woman with a man that does the above ought to watch out,you are sleeping with an abuser.
