Be able to stand on your feet to avoid these 'financial dependence' issues as much as possible. Its not rocket science really. I have 4 sisters so I can say i know a little about this. Proper upbringing has instilled these values in my siblings. If my folks can do it, why can't others?
You are so right. We are all a product of our upbringing. I hate talking about myself but I started a thread earlier in honor of dads esp my own dad. My dad is a good man and treated mom with great respect. Never laid a hand on her so I did not witness abuse growing up. I used to be the first person to cajole women who would become punching bags until I got to know some personally and it changed my whole perspective. These are intelligent women that have been reduced to wimps by years of emotional,sexual and physical torture. Many of these women struggle daily with self esteem long after the divorce is over. Right now I have a friend who is an emotional wreck,who was showing up at my door at 6AM in the morning in tears and the stories are horrifying and even now that the man packed up and left she's still praying he returns because she's scared of being alone. It is not easy. She can't even make very easy decisions on her own because throughout the marriage she was made to believe that she was daft and incapable of reasoning. Abuse robs women of themselves. |

his wrong should be all too apparent when he enters the real world, reasons things for himself and discovers that it is a mark of cowardice to beat a woman.

@ Ikamefa   hi @ Topic This whole woman beater thing is all over-rated. Men are now being portrayed to be demons, what about the chicks that beat up their men physically, emotionally and psychologically. The thing is when a woman is abused by a man, the world hears about it, when a man is being abused by a woman he simply keeps quiet and stomachs all the crap b'because the world would only laugh at him. If we could be honest with ourselves, atimes these abused women actually drive their men to the point of hitting them, I'm not trying to justify hitting a woman, I'm just saying it does happen. But any man who can't control his temper especially towards women is a bitch (pardon my french). Women beaters in my opinion should be bound and the woman given the right to beat the shit out of him to her satisfaction, but what do you to a man beater?? Hmm.
