Hmmm you iz mocking me!
Robert Rodriguez. Actually i have just about the same memories like you about that movie. A young Ar-nuld though who i didn't really care for back then. And the chants of my cousins and brothers in the background saying 'See this girl with her thin thin muscles dey do action hero - make she carry go' rofl. Like some months back i was watching Army of Darkness, i laff tire that day eh. Chaii some oldies are sooo silly
How is the wackness? I was thinking of checking that out but i try to stay clear of Sir Ben Kingsley since the fiasco of Bloodrayne, the thunderbirds etc.
Zombies hmmmm, anything on other creatures?

wackness is yer average coming-of-age crowd wower about stoners and stoning. its enteratining mostly, and ben kingsley did well, as did famke janssen but the best stoner acting was by Mary-Kate Olsen. its message is sublime, hidden in that smoky haze that always wafts around stoners. its a bit like Trainspotting meets Goodwill Hunting in some ways. army of darkness-the point where evil dead franchise finally accepted its nonsensical roots and embraced allout comedy. great larfs all around, Ash in his best outing. wish there was a sequel to let us how how he fared in the future he unwittingly found himself in. yah i have books on other creatures: How Elves Are Related To Goblins

heretic! you are smeared with tact and wit so dismal it lends a damned light to your dread and ominous purpose.
black is your heart but you shall not unsettle me with your taunts, for i stood mightier swords than the mere words of a fickle goblin child. i am the unsilent cathedral and you are the gaunt raven sent by the tempter, and doomed is your enterprise.

ok back to Topic. I havent been able to watch any movie but i saw this review for Meet Dave and its saddening. Despite playing in over 3,000 theaters, Eddie Murphey's shiteously-reviewed new film, Meet Dave, opened to a disastrous $5.5 million this past weekend. Thankfully, he's got a lot of money in the bank. Cuz, unless they're making another Shrek film, the tranny lover will never see another big paycheck again! Hellboy 2 held the top spot in the US. this weekend, making $35.8 million. Journey To The Center Of The Earth came in third with $20.6 mill. And, Wall*E, which we saw on Friday and LOVED, made $18.8 million - good enough for a 4th place finish this weekend.

here's a toss up: the worst movie this year
1. meet dave
2. love guru
3. the happening
let the nominations began
eddie murphy obviously doesnt realize he just isnt funny anmore, and i thought the fallout from Norbit would make him pause.
same thing is beginning to happen to mike myers, resuscitating the same jokes from Austin powers franchise (bullocks, nuts, weiners and getting struck by stuff in the head or nether regions. not to mention its a bit insulting to hindus).
as for me, i love wall-e, it reinstated pixar back in my books and though it wont rank alongside the incredibles, its a heckuva movie enough to make me emote. wall-e's eyes (binoculars, really) are the best part of him and i love his voice.
the visuals, oh the visuals! ive forgiven lasseter and the whole pixar team for the dreadful CARS.

people who like crusty jokes on male genitalia will adore the noinsense that love guru is.
i don't like CARS much. the characters are fine (especially Mater) biut the idea of talking cars as people didnt work for me.
talking toys, bugs, fish, and robots work.

Fun with Dick and jane yes, I'm still in love with Jim Carey ooohhh. He's amazing.Dont know why this movie didnt get a better reception when it first came out. Its a spoof about Enron and quite good, in my opinion. His wife in the movie was also outstanding. The son, however, didnt perform. Quite annoying, in fact. Zathura. Another underrated movie. Very very underrated. I didnt watch it before now because a friend of mine gave it a bad review and said I shouldnt bother. Now it turns out she didnt even watch the movie- she just read the book and went by hearsay. The first part is kind of slow, but once things start happening, its action all the way. 13 Going on 30. Didnt really like it.

Hannibal RisingSuch a ridiculous film. I don't know understand the basis of the film. On wikipedia, it's written that "the summary of this film may be confusing to the reader". So - the dude learnt how to eat people too ehn? because his sister was eaten by lunch too? IMAGINE. THE main actor eats the dude that ate his sister - what sorta revenge is that MatrixI do not know why I'm yet to see their movie. I guess I like not film-tricks.

Well I'D wished they'D stayed truer to the manuscript than they did. The old man Harris got his ish down tight but them Hollywood folks can f**k things up. I do not however like films to become a translation of books, like it was meant for those who don't have time to read the book (like the Da Vince Code, word for word) but there are just some elements you can't tamper with. That's why Silence of the Lambs won an Oscar. So everybody's waiting on TDK eh?
I shoulda been on this thread since. I did some catching up and I'm impressed with Ex Inferis, Gamine and of course Miss iice. I'll be back

Batman: the dark Knight is being hailed as a masterpiece
IGN says it's better'n all the 3 spiderman movies and better than Batman Begins It's 90% on Rotten Tomatoes.
Must. . .download. . .watch!
"If Dark Knight gets anything less than an Oscar nomination it would be a great injustice to the world of cinema. Nolan has delivered an epic masterpiece that will literally take your breath away." -- Brad Miska, Bloody-Disgusting.com
"Dark, grim, haunting and visionary, The Dark Knight; is nothing short of brilliant, the best and scariest comic hero adaptation you are likely to see this summer season, and perhaps during the whole year." -- Emanuel Levy, EmanuelLevy.com
"If Nolan had the opportunity to have a more even balance between explosions and ideas, it could have been that masterpiece that was prayed for." -- David Poland, The Hot Blog
"I can't rate The Dark Knight as an outstanding piece of craftsmanship. Batman Begins was grim and methodical, and this movie is grim and jammed together. The narrative isn't shaped coherently to bring out contrasts and build toward a satisfying climax. The Dark Knight is constant climax; it's always in a frenzy, and it goes on forever." -- David Denby, The New Yorker
"While one might hesitate to throw around overused words like masterpiece, it's refreshing that The Dark Knight is not a movie that can be viewed and easily discarded like so much other summer fare." -- Edward Douglas, ComingSoon.net

Hmmm. . , all this anticipation over dark night
I no dey feel am at all.
I watched Batman Begins. . . . .and yes it was dark, yes there was a bit of depth but I just never got out of the fantasy movie zone. I simply could not take a chap who sews some body hugging suit with a cape hanging on to him seriously.
Every other person who has bat induced phobia or related issues would see a shrink.
Now compare this with Pan's Labyrinth which straddles the fantasy/reality line as well.
The Spanish Civil war setting lends itself to depth and deep thought. You can take the otherworldly characters a lot more seriously, cause war is itself an otherworldly experience.
I will watch the Dark Knight, but I will probably just chuckle all the way. And it will not be because of the Joker alone.
