Cool movie Undecided  but  unrealistic. Nicholas Cage could see the future and know what implications his decisions today will have. Quite funny though even though it's a thriller

got banned again for the umpteenth time, found my way back in but I'm sure i will get kicked out again.

oh well-

The Matrix WAS not groundbreaking when it came out. if you are talking about the cool bullet time effects, anyone who has seen Coolio's video "see you when you get there" and lost in space will have seen the same effects.

the wachowski brothers just reapplied it in a more imaginative way. thank god Speed Racer sucks, they couldnt match the feat of te matrix.

the dark knight will be cool because of:

1. gotham was never as faithful to the comics-dark,drizzling,gothic

2. the batbike-oh, the bike. my kingdom for that bike

3. heath ledger. he just qualififed as one of the 16 most villainous villains in Yahoo.

4. nolan took the ingredients of the first batty, amped it up a gajillion times and all the while stayed within the bounds of credibility. the action sequences are great.

but its all about heath ledger.

meanwhile someone says he hasnt seen the matrix and gamine is shocked: don't be, someone people don't root for sci fi. i remember when i watched Event Horizon and in my entire clan I'm the only one who found it interesting (even though it was made by paul anderson  Shocked). infact, some of my latin quotes came from movie-"liberate tutame ex inferis").

EX Inferis
Matrix wasn't groundbreaking? Shocked Huh I totally disagree. .
Coolio's video just had the ideaMatrix brought it out to reality. .
and other movie producers followed suit. .
I have the whole Matrix collection and was watching Revolutiuon yesterdayalthough those moves now look a little rusty, but it was the ish then. .
Matrix was it!!. .

Yeah, Dark Knight should be nice. .But I usually have a feeling about movies everybody's waiting for, they usually disappoint ur high expectations. . .
I hope this doesn't ,

Re: Review Any Movie
« #741 on: July 18, 2008, 04:11 PM »

like i said, matrix wasnt groundbreaking

john gaeta took an already existing digital effect and extended it with 120 still cameras and superimposed them on matte and digital backgrounds.

that hardly qualifies as groundbreaking. its innovative use of existing technology.

lost in space did the same thing to very good effect in the warp drive/worm hole sequence

we also saw the same thing in wing commander. those guys were there first. gaeta took it and APPLIED it to action scenes and animated the still photos. in the examples above there were no animations of the bullet time stills.

here is what qualifies as groundbreaking: shooting the "hole in the jungle" sequence in Predator, where they make him shimmeringly invisible. now that had never been done before.

this is absolutely my last post in nairaland.

i have other more pertinent callings and as such my dedication to entertainment will have to take a backseat, as well as the little time i squeeze to keep up the postings.

I, Neoteny, Ex Inferis, born Abdalla Mohammed, hereby take a bow and exit left.

its been a pleasure knowing SOME of you.

The Dark Knight
My loff ok let's not go there.
Awesome movie but even more brilliant is Heath Ledger.
Not since Hannibal Lecter has a villain so thoroughly captured the mind.
The song and dance between Bruce and the Joker is wonderful. you complete me Grin
I liked the human aspect of the batman, and no matter what, he doesn't break his code

Hello batpod!!!! Kiss Kiss I want that! Grin

Saw Dark Knight last night. I give it a 9. It was lovely. I wish more of Heath was shown I guess.

it was kind of depressing watching it and just knowing that, that was the end of his character/career.

Iice, is it just me or did Bale seem very "American Psycho" in some parts of the movie. Loved it!  Grin

Karma,
Yup, i felt the same way too.  It's like you'd want to see more of the joker
And it's so sad that is the end of his career, but what a performance!

LOL, not taking into account that he's a favorite actor of yours Tongue
It was awesome!

« #749 on: July 20, 2008, 06:41 PM »

Lol yea I do adore him. I kind of have a crush on Eckhart too   Tongue

I think it's weird how they tried to put the whole 2Face situation in the movie, I perosnally think that should have been continued in another installment. IT ended up overshadowing Joker and Batman more than it should

the raspy voice(his disguising "technique" ) ever now and then also kind of bothered me esp when he was making his speeches

Re: Review Any Movie
« #750 on: July 20, 2008, 06:46 PM »

Oh lawdy! I meant to post that too - the voice thing.
It's one of the things i didn't like about the movie.  Probably because i watched Gotham Knight recently and even through the different parts - they kept the voice consistent (i mean the batman voice).

Also the Eric Roberts falling and then up and walking Undecided

I wonder though which villain will come in next?

Ok, saw the Dark Knight yesterday. Overall I would give it a 5/10. I wasn't crazy bout it even though I generally like superhero movies. I just feel the producers put too much "dark" into it. The Joker and 2face gave spectacular performances but batman could have been better (what was up with the raspy voice thing? Huh Huh Huh,  don't remember it being like that in the last one.). Plus couldn't they have found a hotter chick to use other than Jake's sister?

At the moment the movie is shattering all kinds of box office records but I wonder if it would have were Heath still alive. I kind of get the feeling that his death has really magnified his performance, just my $.02,  Angry Angry Angry

rofl, i don't even know why he was there Undecided

I liked that they took into account fixing the batsuit.  The neck was just ewww Tongue
Now that the batmobile is destroyed, i think they will bring the model back to the old school which i prefer Tongue
Hmmm what about bane? too much CGI
