Beautiful Ijaw Names
« on: May 23, 2008, 12:35 PM »

Let's have them folks and if you know the meaning feel free to add 'em. . . please, do not include Ebiere, that name has been beaten to death by Nigerians just like Ekaete. And ummm. . . I am not talking about 'Morris Clarke' or stuff like that. . .

Here goes my list:

Teri
Ebi
Lei( Kiss Kiss this name is lovely)
Brepele

More to come. . .

Oya, drop your list and get ready to receive 29 lashes of bulala if I see any Johnson Freewill on your list.

Jeez!there are 2 many fake ijaws up in here.@ ifyalways the meaning of akpodiagha is not don't depend on men,it is live life with care or live life carefully.my translation doesn't give the full essence of the name but it is close enough.u know there is something called lost in translation when translating from one language to another.Tamaratenane means God has heard my call or God has answered my prayer.

Ifyalways, unlike u who is an ijaw indirectly(whatever that means),I am an Ijaw DIRECTLY who is well schooled in the language, customs, tradition and culture of the ijaw people.I guess it is either the guy with the name doesn't know its meaning or your memory is failing u.Let me teach u IJAW 101 by breaking the name down.
AKPO-means life
DI-means to look and AGHA-live or do.When taken together u have live life with care.I even feel this translation falls a bit short of d meaning as there are somethings that cannot be translated directly from one language 2 another, but it is close enough unlike 'your meaning which was way off d mark and please it wasn't my intention 2 pick a fight with u so if I offended u,I'm SORRY.
Assignment-Dont take my word 4 it,try and confirm it first.
You challenged me 2 drop some ijaw names so here goes
Okubhatobofegha-money cannot buy a child,Peresuotei-Pere means both king and wealth hence king/wealth has come into the home,Ebikemie-do good & Tamaralayefa-no one as great as GOD.

Hey folks, I found another one 'Zifa' I think it means unknown but I have no idea what gender it belongs to. Anyone got any idea about the gender of Zifa. . .  (lol @ gender) Sounds unisex though if you put the meaning into consideration.
