Any other suggestions?

Each award is supposed to be a one-time award that once granted is never revoked unless there's severe misbehaviour on your part.  So the Active Newcomer Award idea may not fly.  Each award should be open to every member of the forum, and given at the administrator's discretion.

Sounds good!  But won't that be more work for you?  How will you make it work since there are so many members here?  Will there be a vote?  An anonymous nomination?

Each award is supposed to be a one-time

So even if a new member is better. No story!

I will probably invite nominations, applications, user-initiated polls, et cetera, but I will always maintain the right to the final decision.

When any member of the forum wins an award, we will ask who invited him/her to the forum, and then we would reward that person too!

Thanks, Saintjoe.  The Award for those who invite others to the Nairaland Forum will probably be called the Nairaland Promoter Award ("P") which means that the Peacemaker Award will be renamed to _____ (any ideas?)

Seun,
don't u think its a bit high handed of you to reserve the power to annul the popular vote? This Kind of attitude just goes to show that we really have the kind of rulers we deserve.

Is it askin too much for u to set a criteria for nomination and leave the selection to popular vote? Why must u tinker with the process? Whatever is worth doin id worth doing well!

That aside the award thingie is a wonderful idea, thumbs up! But do the winners get cash awards, that will definitely activate my competitive juices Grin Grin
